Title: Lords of Tunder demo disc?
Post by: RoyVegas on September 05, 2009, 04:10:14 PM
I always see the demo disc in peoples want lists and am trying to find out some more info on it.  A search of the forums wasn't very productive at all.  It's listed on daisakusen with only one owner (Adol) and we all know that anything posted by Adol isn't very reliable.  I realize the possibility of it existing is probable but there is a severe lack of information on it.  Has anyone ever actually seen the demo in person, have any pics of the disc or own it?

I don't see the "gate of thunder" demo disc in their list anywhere.

My inclination is that that would be what they're referring to.

There are videos of it up on youtube.

I always thought that PCE Daisakusen was referring to the VHS Demo tape until I saw a magazine article stating that the Super CD demo contained 4 playable stages from the game and only allowed the Thunder armor at the beginning of each stage.

TGX16 have two CD demo for store :
-DuoDemo01 = Lords of Thunder demo, I never see it.
- DuoDemo02 = 3 in 1 demo with a special introduction with Air Zonk. See only 1 time on Ebay and I take it.

I believe you bought that from Corey?  He told me he sold his on ebay awhile back.  Any chance you can take a picture of yours so I can compare it to mine?  I'm 99% sure mine is just a copy.

This is pretty much why I am asking.  Everyone talks about it but noone has ever seen it.

I always thought that Daisuken was referring to the VHS Demo tape until I saw a magazine article stating that the Super CD demo contained 4 playable stages from the game and only allowed the Thunder armor at the beginning of each stage.

Any chance you recall where you might have seen that article?

It's not Gate of Thunder, it's Lords of Thunder demo disc and it is listed here. http://www.pcedaisakusen.net/2/28/760/2/Lords-Of-Thunder-Demo-Disc-us.htm

Yes, I do recall it being on Esteban's TurboPlay archives. If you go to his profile, there should be a link to the site from there.

Yes, my DuoDemo02 come from Corey. I can post a picture tomorow if you want, but you can check the reference number on the inner CD ring.

Yes, but the DuoDemo01 exist.

You may want to try getting in touch with BT Garner.  If I'm not mistaken, he has a copy of both demos (and pretty much anything else you can think of).

BT doesn't sell from his collection he said.  I do appreciate the tip though!    :P

Oh, is this a "Want to Buy" thread?  If so, then you've failed to word it as such and have placed it in the wrong sub-forum.

It wasn't meant to be a Want to Buy thread.  I wanted to find out more about it, possibly with some pics.  Never hurts to ask if someone that happens to have one wants to get rid of it.

I may be mistaken, but I think I came across the ISO for it at one point. If there's any interest, I could try to hunt it down again.

Here is the info that I got from BT:

It is horrifically unremarkable.  It is a
pressed CD, but the artwork on the
CD makes it look like the words "DUO DEMO 01" are hand written across
it.  Nothing really to see there.
Content wise:  it has GoT, Bonk 1, Bonk 2 -- same as the US pack in,
but only the first level of each game
is present, and I think there is an auto attract mode that bounces
through each game when the console
is left alone, and no hidden bomberman.

I do have a burned copy of the Duo Demo 01 that was copied from Thaibaut's Demo before he got it from Corey.  If anyone would like me to take some pics of the intro to the Demo just say the word and I will take some pics and post them when I get off of work.  I'll also check around the net and see if I can find any video of it.

Edit:  Found this video on youtube and it's the one that Thaibaut has which was sold by Corey.

I guess that answers all questions on this one.  Now to find some info on the LoT disc.

BT didn't any any information on the LOT disc.

The Duo demo one is pretty damn cool.  The burned copy that I have is 100% playable but if you die the game doesn't go back to the original screen like I am assuming it would.  The screen just goes blank.

The LoT demo disc really would be interesting to see since noone has ever actually seen it.

why is the intro so much cooler as it is in the officla pack-in version? why didn't they zoom and rotate the got & bonks screens the same way? soo cool!

The TurboDuo logo and Zonk flying around between the system card screen and game select screen are kinda neat, but I'm glad they removed 'em from the pack-in.  They just don't fit (no Zonk pack-in) and lengthy intros suck when you just want to play a game.  Outside of the Zonk bits, isn't the rest of the intro the same as the pack-in version?  I remember the system card screen and game select screen scaling and rotating in the exact same manner, though I usually 'run' my way past all that jazz to get to the good stuff, so my memory might be off.
