Check it out -> http://www.zaku-lynx.com/screens.htm
Lead programmer said the game was inspired by Air Zonk. Anyway, it looks like it's now complete and they have a video showing it off. Looks great :D

Goddamn. That looks great. There might be a reason to pull out the Lynx in the near future.
Zaku (and some other designs) reminded me of Warner Bros. toons.

lol, not necessary to mention that. everybody can see that :D

Nice!

That looks fantastic, though I'd say it's a bit more than simply 'inspired' by Zonk. The only question now is when will the Turbo see a similarly polished, sexy, and new shmup?

Hello, everyone.
I had meant to swing by here and post a reply in this thread much sooner, but it seems about a month rolled by before my account was approved. :-({|=
At any rate, I am proud to inform you all that Zaku was officially released on October 24, 2009. The public announcement went something like this:
Hello.
You have already come to know Super Fighter Team for our quality game releases for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. Once again, we would like to thank you for your interest and support. Without dedicated gamers like you, we would not be able to continue with our dreams of providing great new games for classic gaming systems.
I am happy to tell you that today is the beginning of a great new adventure. After six years in development, we at Super Fighter Team are proud to announce the release of Zaku for the Atari Lynx. This all new, all original horizontal shooter has an exciting feature to complement every aspect of the Lynx's unique hardware, being fun and entertaining the entire time.
The game features:
* Five worlds with multiple stages each for a total of over 16 stages to battle through.
* Detailed artwork full of parallax scrolling for the most immersive experience possible.
* Constant 60FPS gameplay for the smoothest Lynx experience yet!
* Enemies and bosses that fight back to your playing style.
* Multiple difficulties to challenge any player.
Once again, we have done our best to ensure only the highest quality product. Zaku comes complete with the following:
* 4-Meg game card with authentic plastic shell
* 31 page full color instruction manual printed in English and French
* Sturdy cardstock box with slot to hold and protect the game card

Zaku is now available at the cost of only $40.00 + shipping and handling. We proudly accept orders from anywhere in the world.
In closing I would like to thank you for your time and attention, and I invite you to contact me by e-mail directly should you have any questions or comments about any of our games.
Have a nice day -- and never let dreams die!

I got to play the first copy of it at the CCAG show that day!
too bad I didnt win the raffle for the copy.. :(
-
Man, this is a really nice looking game.
-
i found it to be less intense than the Lords/Gate of Thunder style stuff im used to playing.
The art style and setting of the game are really awesome though. It feels like Sonic mixed with Air Zonk

Awesome! and welcome to the boards! :D

It's a rather awesome looking game. Had I lynx, I would totally buy this game.
-
Hey awesome.I like the flying toaster in the game as one of the bosses. Now it needs to be ported to the Duo.
-
I have a Lynx. I will be buying this.
-
I wish I still had my Lynx, I'll have to get me one again some day. I really want a Lynx II next time.
-
This looks great. I still have my Lynx 1 that my grandmother got me for Christmas of 1989 for around $200. I would have liked a Genesis instead at the time, but oh well. Too bad it is in bad shape. I need to fix the A/C adapter port and find/make a plastic outer screen as the old one is shattered. I still have Warbirds and California Games (favorite version).

Thank-you for your support. :)
Once you have received your copy of Zaku, we would appreciate it very much if you took a moment to share your thoughts and opinions of the game here at the forum.

Is this going to be a limited run? I only ask because I would love to pick up a copy, but probably wont be able to until sometime next year.

At Super Fighter Team, we don't believe in "limited runs", because we feel our products should be available to everyone, instead of a select few. Zaku began with a 300 copy production run, and additional copies will be manufactured to meet continued demand. If you are not able to order at this time, don't fret - the game will still be available for you to purchase in 2010. Thanks for your interest.

This is badass.
Thats the coolest Lynx game I've seen!
