Title: Finally a complete US collection for a console
Post by: DragonmasterDan on October 11, 2009, 09:17:27 AM
I have a lot of games, several thousand in all. But it wasn't until today that I finally completed a collection for a system. I now have a complete (game, box, manual) collection of a console. Sure it's a system with a tiny library, but it feels good to have a complete collection.

Despite the fact that it's a virtual boy, I'm impressed.

but aren't there 2 Japan-only games that you don't have?

yeah, there's Eight Virtual boy games that were exclusive to Japan.

SD Gundam Dimension War
Space Invaders Virtual Collection
Space Squash
Insmouse no Yakata
V-Tetris
Virtual Bowling
Virtual Lab
And Virtual Fishing

I don't have any of those.. yet..
Nesters Funky Bowling and Waterworld were US exclusives.
I obviously have both of those.

I'm mistaken, 3D Tetris is also a US exclusive.

There was a time when EB was blowing out VB stuff for insanely low prices. You could get the system and every game made for like $70 or so, I think. I can't remember. At this time my friend decided to go for it so I had the chance to play most of the library.

It isn't that great. Since I like stuff that's good a lot more than stuff that's complete, I'd rather have %1 of some other console's library. That being said, it isn't terrible, or even bad. The only problem is the logistical nightmare of somehow setting the thing up in way that won't kill your neck or hog the kitchen table. The controller is very good.

The games are much better than the machine. I liked Tennis, Panic Bomber and Wario the most...IIRC. Its been a while.

Hehe.  I also like the Virtual Boy, but my collection all Japanese plus the US exclusives.  For the JP games only games, I really recommend Insmouth no Yakata.  The game gets a lot of undeserved hate.  It's extremely difficult, but one of the most intense FPSs I've ever played.  It's so simple, but so frantic.  An awesome game that all VB owners should have.

Space Squash and V-Tetris are great too.  Space Invaders is old school style Space Invaders.  Virtual Fishing is a fairly extensive game, but it bores me to death...

SD Gundam, Virtual Bowling, and Virtual Lab are the only 3 games I don't have.  Mainly because they sell for about $600 each.  Good luck!

Well done.  I must admit that I'm a little envious, as I really like those quirky little red-eyed buggers.
