So i bought a new sealed cratermaze, becaused i wanted the box, asked the selller numerous times to ship in a solid carboard box.. and to protect the game. Today the game arrives.
Package was ripped open by customs i believe, because the person sent the game in a pizza box.. hmm box crushed. padding was crumpled paper and a thin sheet of bubble wrap. So useless.
So i look a bit further, front of cratermaze box is ripped with a hole going through it. look at the box it was sent in, no holes anywhere. So either seller has sent me a New Sealed game with a hole in it ( not described in the auction or in any emails ) or customs have randomly ( and very roughly ) cut into the box, i think the first scenario is more likley, ive seen how customs deal with stuff here and its generally very gentle, the top plastic would have been carefull sliced.
anyways annoyed the crap out of me, so im still on the hunt for a decent cratermaze box!!!! useless.. dunno if i will hear back from them, no point sending it back, shipping costs more than the items.. any recourse with paypal?

Sorry to hear about the troubles man. I've had customs open a sealed game on me also. My box had a inch long gash cut across the top and they surely wern't gentle with it.
Hard to tell if Paypal would do anything about it. You would have had a better shot at getting refunded as "item not as described" if Customs hadn't touched it. Since customs molested it, all the seller has to say is that it was perfect when he sent it out and customs caused all the damage to it (unless he is unaware customs raped it). Never hurts to try and get a refund but I would think chances would be pretty low of getting back anything.
Side note: I'm willing to bet you bought that game from that guy in Venezuela right? That's who I got mine from when customs molested it. He actually stopped selling on his old eBay account since he feedback was horribly negative and is now selling under the name "buysellven".

yup thats the seller.

WTF!?!? ...a pizza box..! Oh man, pinche Venezolano!

Damn, I just bought fantasy zone from that guy! I was gonna open it anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter, I just wanted the manual.

I once shipped a computer monitor across the border and customs ripped the box open, smashed the glass on the monitor to make sure I wasn't smuggling drugs or something hidden inside the monitor over the border, then had the gall to HOLD IT until the recipient paid a $25 duty tax on it. Yes, they actually called him up and told him he could come down to customs and they would release the smashed monitor to him after he paid a $25 duty tax.
It seems to me there HAVE to be laws in place to prevent this kind of intentional abuse, but I've been too lazy to research it, and I'm willing to bet that's what the customs dipshits bank on.

really I mean what did you expect buying from venezuela? that's just not smart if you are buying a collectible where condition is a big factor.

WHat does coming from Venezuela have to do with it? Especially as it was probUS customs agents that did it?

I forget how they worded it when I had to deal with smashed nonsense. (Sold stuff to Norway).
The basic jist of it is, they can dismantle whatever in the hell they want as long as it doesn't cause structural damage.
So if they yknow, BASH THE GLASS, thats supposed to be on them.

yup thats the seller.
Dammit. I've got a few things I'm waiting to get from him right now. Nothing fancy or expensive, but it's taking FOREVER.
-
What's the seller's name?

Dont worry it did take a month to arrive, almost to the day.. The only reason id be worried is if you want the boxes .. i was going to buy other items.. but i retracted bids in the end until this is sorted.. i just dont know if the item was butchered at customs ( as the box he used didnt hae a hole in it, but the game did ) so can only assume it went into the box that way.. the hole looked kinda fresh though .. so im confused, ive sent him some pictures and will let you know the outcome

He's got a new Atari XL that looks great, but $300 is too much to spend on something that may arrive looking like it was delivered by UPS.

An Update on my purchase. The seller has refunded the price of the game ( not shipping ). He offered to replace with another item if i paid shipping. I made him an offer for some other items he had, but he declined and then said he'd rather refund. So i got some money back. He did suggest it was my local customs, this i know if not the case, anything opened here has a Customs Sticker and document added to tell you it was inspected, so either the game was damaged before hand or it was opened in another location. Still he did give a refund so i have to give him credit for that and say that anyone that does buy something from him, just be aware it takes 1 month for shipping and there is a CHANCE it may not arrive in great condition,,
