I'd say a starfoxesque game would be pretty cool; it would go well with the spaceship shooter theme the pce has going for it.
Spiral Wave (http://www.thebrothersduomazov.com/search/label/Spiral Wave) wasn't that far off.
yeah, and spiral wave kicked ass.

I would have liked to have seen a completed Strider for the SGX and what the Power Console may have become. Eat your heart out Steel Battalion!!!

I would have loved for an updated Karnov (the NES version) for PCE. That would have been awesome. Of course, I'd want a Super CD version, with the equivalent of 2 long quests (the original quest, plus a new one), and the option to have PSG or Red Book Audio soundtrack.
Then we have Gyruss (Konami). I'd love a really souped-up version, with special flourishes and effects (and, if it didn't break gameplay, a variety of creative backdrops). Always the PSG/Red Book option, which you can switch on the fly, and some "dodging" sequences.
Then of course, my ultimate dream, is an updated version of Mega Zone (Konami), with a special "horror mode", made just for me, that is so intense (in terms of sound effects and soundscape), that it scares the hell out of me (and you).

I wish they would have ported Shenmue 1 and 2 over to the PCE in 1988. Like R-Type, each game would have probably needed to be separated to 2 HuCards. If they waited a year or two when NEC finally figured the AMAZING technology that allowed 4 MEGA POWER, then each game could come one one card.

Sega was always the pioneer, achieving 4 MEGA POWER before NEC could do the same on a supposedly more powerful system. NEC should feel ashamed. I know I would feel ashamed if a box that said "Tonka" on it was more POWERFUL than myself. I bet Obama's socialism and Rush Limbaugh are behind this conspiracy.

I blame George Bush for TTi turning down the console exclusive rights to Mortal Kombat. I also blame George Bush for the Civil War, McKinley's assassination, and Beanie Babies.

Mortal Monday, the day that launched the Genesis into first place. Funny that sega isn't making consoles anymore and Midway shit the bed...
Phillips should've given the TG16 rights to Hotel Mario. More realisticly, the Battletoads arcade game would've made me spew some chunky dick snot.

I know. What is interesting is that the North American box art for SMS After Burner (see prior post) is slightly different than the European version (below):
1) The European version swaps out "Sega Arcade Hit" in the upper right-hand corner for "THE FOUR MEGA POWER" banner. Brilliant marketing. 2) The European version overtly states that the game is single-player only. Again, brilliant. 3) The European version features a line drawing interpretation of the air-brushed North American artwork. 4) The European version nimbly utilizes the "graph paper" motif featured on all Master System products.

And also, in the European version the horribly sketched F-14 is shooting down F-4s. In the US version, the F-14 is blasting MiG-23/27's from the sky. Wait a sec, are they bashing the mega power of the PCE in Portugese?

Super Robot Wars as a SCD. Today Bandai makes solid games pretty regularly, but in the old days virtually every single thing they sold was total crap. When they released Dragon Ball Z for PC Engine, and it turned out to not only be decent but also very innovative, I was very surprised. This game was sort of the turning point for Bandai, IMO. I would have loved to have seen the first CD SRW game on PC Engine.
An original installment of the Assault Suit series.
An original installment of the Kunio-kun series.
The final Gunbuster game (cancelled, always wondered if betas existed).

it seemed like Bandai was better at toys than games back then. All the Bandai games I have are craptastical disasters

Street of Rage is one of my all time Favorite Genesis/Feka Drive games. Considering the bang up job they apparently did on Altered Beast for the PCE, I'm not sure I'd vote for that one. I'm forever the pessimest though...
Necro, you had me a "Multi-player Tetris."

Just play the arcade version. It will leave you happy instead of furious. One of the only PCE ports I blatantly dislike.

Bionic Commando, most of the NES Disney games, River City Ransom, a bunch of the Square games... and I'm gonna have to second (third?) that vote for TMNT (5 player!)

Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari / River City Ransom was a TG/PCE release.

Yeah, yeah, yeah; I know. But instead of a quickly whipped out (but highly playable) home brew burned to a disc that my Duo won't play, I'd rather have a 'real' copy of a more complete game with animations, cut scenes, great red book tunes, four or five player capabilities, a high score table, a manual and proper case, etc.
Street of Rage is one of my all time Favorite Genesis/Feka Drive games. Considering the bang up job they apparently did on Altered Beast for the PCE, I'm not sure I'd vote for that one. I'm forever the pessimest though...
Don't be so negative; there's not much wrong with After Burner II, Outrun, or Bonanza Bros., and besides, Altered Beast isn't that great in any format. :P

what the hell kind of cutscenes would tetris have? Lol
well, I guess I could see like high quality spastic anime renditions of the usual little scenes from NES. :D

blueraven, nice! Do I have to be able to read JP to play it? I loved that game on the NES... need to get me a copy.
edit: read the review... thanks for the link! looks like too much Japanese for me to play through it. Guess I'm stuck with the NES version.

River City Ransom is a good game for beginners in Japanese. It uses basic hiragana and katakana for the shop menus. If you learn to read them you'll be surprised at how easy it is...
For example, kikku = kick.

I was surprised that so few people noticed the little details! You'd think folks here would inspect everything carefully.
Gotta agree with Esteban on Karnov- that would've been sweet.
Hell yes :)

oh this reminds me of an old thread that ninja spirit created about mock game covers we did on pshop.. I would have loved more Konami games and definitely wished they ditched the MSX and bought all their MSX catalogue onto the pce... anyway I wished these got ported to the pce.. and as you can see I love the HuCARD!!!
