Do you mean the hard shelled black briefcases?

I think you just bought them back in the day like any other accessory

I thought they came with the TG-CD add-on packed in the box.

This is correct, the TG-CD hard shell case did come packed in the original box with the TG-CD system.

As for the TurboExpress and the TG-16 hard shell cases, the pretty much had to be sold as accessories.

The TG-CD carry case was included as a pack in but Turbo Zone Direct also sold them separately. Most of the other cases that I have seen were owned by Blockbuster Video who used them for protection as they rented out the systems.

I have a DUO light blue CD case that was given to me from a friend of mine. He said he got it from Electronics Boutique back in the old days when he bought some TurboGrafx-16/Duo games.

Can you post a pic of it please?

it holds about 12 cd games sure I can take pics of it. It is in my storage somewhere but I remember seeing it few months  ago so should be easy find for me :D. I used to have 2 of these but sold one to a friend of mine.

I posted pics of my TurboExpress hard case in the link in this thread.  I've kept my case inside an air-conditioned house for it's entire 20 year life, but somehow the foam inside has dry-rotted - see pics.  Does anyone else have this problem with their cases?

http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=8129.0

I loved storing the express so securely in it, but when I found the dry-rot several years ago (with my Express inside the case) I was horrified.  I haven't kept it in the case since.

I also have a larger "generic" hard case that had a different kind of foam in cube that you could tear out to form the same of the unit being stored.  The foam in this case is perfectly fine and both cases were stored side by side all these years.

Pelican makes "pick and pluck" foam that fits nicely in these carry cases.

I found the price list from Turbo Zone Direct, probably from around 1994 - you could get the Turbo Express Case for $14.99 it was listed (NEW!), so I'm guessing you couldn't get it elsewhere.

It also lists an Express Rechargable Battery Pack for $49.99.  Any idea if this was an official TurboExpress item, or if it was just a generic AA charger?

You could also get the Express Special for $69.99 which was the Case, AC and Car adapters and a $29.99 game (Bonk 3 could have been chosen)

Magical Chase was $39.99, damn that seemed like SOOO much money back then....

The list does not mention the TG16 case, so it may have been a Blockbuster thing, but our local Blockbusters didn't have TG16 for rent.
