Title: Turbo controller -> Duo Controller
Post by: jaffo on July 21, 2005, 05:54:37 AM
Hello again everyone,

Quite a few years ago, I remember seeing someone mention something about some type of adapter that would let you use a regular TG16 controller on a Duo.  I thought I had seen this on the Turbo Grafx listserv.

Does such an adapter exist?

I had also heard of people changing out the cable of a TG16 controller with one that had a Duo controller's end on it, but I'd rather have an actual adapter.

Any info would be appreciated.

You should just be able to use a PC Keyboard adaptor that has a female XT-style plug and a male PS/2 Plug. I have one somewhere myself that I use for my old turbo-tap and controllers.

Awesome.  Didn't realize that would work.  I'll have to give that a try - I've got one of those adaptors at home.

Thanks!

I wonder, though....let's say I'm using three TG16 controllers adapted this way - would they get in the way of one another on the duo-tap?  I suppose I could use a PS/2 keyboard extension cable in that case.....

There actually is an official adapter that let's you use TurboPads on your TurboDuo.  I had one a long time ago, and then I bought one about two years ago from www.tzd.com (http://www.tzd.com/).  Unfortunately, it looks as though they're out of stock.

Yes you can. When the Duo was first out, most computers didn't use the smaller PS/2-style connectors, but Macs did. I wanted an extension cable, and the Mac cable was my only option. Of course, Mac accessories are expensive, so I ended up paying like $50 for it.

I suspected as much when I ordered a "Duo controller extension cable" and it was dull grey when it came. I'd really like a black one. Also I'd really like to be able to use my Turbo Tap on the Duo, and use my Avenue 6 pad on the Tap. All in black of course. Anyone care to make this easy and post a link? Or at least tell me the real names of what I'm looking for?
