Title: How much is this worth? (Turbo-CD System)
Post by: 16bit on October 14, 2010, 01:39:47 PM
Hi all,

Been awhile since I posted on here and well....recently lost a full time job.

I have a near complete Turbografx-16 CD System that is in working condition that I am thinking about selling....but having a dang hard time finding out what this thing is worth.

The system is in good shape for it's age, with a few nicks and scuffs here and there. Only piece I am missing is the original backing for the Turbografx-16. I also have the CD System Card which is not pictured.

I can't find any other auctions or sites with this for sale including the CD-ROM piece, which to me indicates this set is becoming hard to find.

Not here to try and sell or anything like that as I still love the system and wish to hold on to it....but I have to be ready to sell if the bills get too high.

So on to my question...what's this worth?

Here is a picture of the complete set:

And thank you for you help, I visit regularly but rarely post....you have an awesome community going here!  8)

If it's working I'd say it's worth between 150 and 200

So on to my question...what's this worth?

I'd say it's worth no more than $150; to wit, here's (http://cgi.ebay.com/Turbo-Grafx-16-TG16-CD-and-some-games-Lookit-/300477216383?pt=Video_Games&hash=item45f5d6767f) a similar setup with ten games shipped for $165.  Since you're going to eBay, though, all bets are off; if you lack a soul, you can price gouge galore with stupid high BINs.

Methinks Lord Cack is correct.  Yippee for price gouging!

And vile trying to take it all he lost all because it has ended without a sell....
what does this lesson teach you all children????
Well for one that when someone say its worth $150-200 they do not mean $350 ;D
Price gouging is one thing but most of the time it doesnt realy sell well does it?
And when an auctions start out low it ursuly ends at a price that bidders find reasonable at that time,
and that in turn is ursuly quiet a bit beolw the "Pricegougers wet-dreams" :D

I sent the guy a PM here offering exactly what I thought it was worth.... Declined.  So I sent an offer on that ebay auction for the exact same amount (actually a few dollars more because of the shipping cost)  declined again!

Yeesh....

$$ signs in the eyes > the good of the community

When will it end?

The setup is not f*cking rare. It's as common as JJ and Jeff. If yours is the one selling for a starting bid for $350, I can see why you never post here.

Don't put the blame on this member.  I think someone else is dictating the price.

**Please note the Cadash HuCard has two dirty prongs on the top right corner of the chip. What this means is that even though it still works, sometimes the colors and graphics will be scrambled on the screen. Restarting the system seems to resolve this problem.

Hahaha....ok so, i'm on the last stage, spent almost an hour leveling up...and you want me to restart the system?...might as well do THIS ](*,)

And word of advice, don't take a camera-phone pic of it if you really wanna to display your wares for sale AND expect to get top dollar for it, clean it up, and use a real camera w/proper lighting.
