I know...ebay sucks! scammers and price gouging and broken stuff mailed a month late.
But there must be some amazing deals once and a while.
I got Bonk for 99 cents and couple bucks for shipping. Have you had an amazing deal on ebay? So let's hear about em (pc-engine or turbografx16). No negative comments allowed, if that's possible.

I bought a "New Sealed" copy of Drop-off. Unfortunately when it arrived it wasn't sealed, in good condition, but it was used. I filed a complaint on the condition issue. The seller made a mistake on listing and was trying to negotiate 50% refund, but he actually ended up giving me a full refund. So I got a copy of Drop Off (game case and manual) for free.

nice duor :) the bad side, the game sucks about equal to eating some three days old horse shit.

with nothing to wash it down.
ebays great. I love ebay. I buy dumb shit on there all the time.
pins from the 80s, dumb computer shit, musical equipment, all kinds of neat stuff
-
Legendary axe $5 But thats pretty much standard
-
Three day old horse shit? ? ? Ouch! Lol

Ebay is all about luck. Sometimes you can see a game worth $50 on BIN for $20, just need to check at the lucky time.
-
search + newly listed + BIN = lottery :)

I get nothing but good deals on eBay and I've never been screwed. Once I bought a broken joystick, but I fixed it myself easily.
Bid what you want to pay. Once. Then walk away. You'll get an email telling you if you won or not.
If its a BIN and you don't like the price, then just don't buy it. Yes, it is just that simple.
No, seriously, it is that simple.
No, shut the f*ck up. It is that simple. "Sniping" is a crack head's concept. Just bid the max you will pay and learn later if you won or not.
I've been buying Neo Geo MVS mostly recently, nothing but deals. Rage of the Dragons for $26, Super Baseball 2020 for $18.49. I bought some games from a dude in Guadalajara for great prices. KOF 98 for $19.24, and Metal Slug 3 for $36.09. My trust in non-English speaking non-Americans was rewarded. Games were legit SNK, not conversions, and work perfectly.

Thanks to a poor title listing, back in 2000 I won a huge Turbo Grafx CD system lot with like 40+ games(mostly decent games), PCE converter, 3.0 system card, 6 button controllers and a bunch of other accessories for $325 shipped. I ended up selling most of the games and extra accessories alone for $475.
With some work of reselling, I basically made $150 and kept the complete Turbo Grafx + CD system with controllers and 5 games in the end.
I do agree, Ebay is luck of the draw most of the time. Recently, I haven't had too much good luck getting any 'smokin' deals.
-
I got my Turbo CD off ebay.
it was the turbob, the cd+sys2, keith courage, the hardshellcase thing, a controller+cords, and everything.....
110$, and I drove the hour to pick it up myself.
-
I just like the fact i can find newer 2nd hand games cheaper then the ludicrious price Electronics Boutique or Gamestop has them for used which is next to no discount off a newcopy. Literally $5-10 cheaper off a new copy. I got NinjaGaiden Sigma 2 used for $24 when the store still selling a used copy for $40 still!?!?!
And one man's junk is another man's treasure, i wanted to clean out a bunch of Magic Cards (as mentioned on Blue's Sapphire thread) from the mid 90s. And i managed to get back around $272 bucks! not bad
-
for newer games I just tend to check Amazon. I almost bought a used no cover Splatterhouse on Ebay for $35. Almost did it but got outbidded and stopped. The next day Amazon had it for like $25 and I hopped on it.
Speaking of Amazon - for Turbob it has some pretty dumbshit prices there.

Ditto. I never understood why everyone seems to complain about ebay. The only time I paid a game a bit expensive, it was all because of me as I wanted this game bad at that very moment so I placed a high bid but usually, when I get something from ebay sellers, it's always on the cheap side.

Ebay has its merits, but it also has its problems. Good deals can be found on ebay, especially if you are able to find auctions rather than buy it nows for what you're looking for.
The biggest problem with ebay and the reason everyone seems to complain about it is that 90% of the product is being sold by people who sell stuff on ebay for a living, it leads to very minimal differences in pricing and creates an artificially inflated marketplace for a lot of product as the only known price for something that doesn't turn up particularly regularly is what another seller has an item for sale for as a "buy it now".
That combined with ebay's apparent rise in fees against the seller (PayPal fees, listing fees) has led to a lot of people stopping using it altogether (both buyers and sellers).
-
What DragonmasterDan said. ^^^^^^^^^^^
-
Complaining about eBay is kinda like complaining about the real world.
Theres the good (sweet deals!), the bad (WTF deals), and the ugly (royvegas).
No point in complaining, just throw up gang signs and kick some ass.
-
Well recently selling stuff through ebay the last two months I have to go with what DragonmasterDan said. The fees are outrageous and with ebay owning paypal it's just double shitty. However for buying it's exactly what Zeta said. I put a max bid once and walk away. If i get it sweet, if not no big f*cking deal. I just hate that most games now are not bids anymore and are kind of becoming rare. There are good deals to be had though. I scored an almost new condition japanese NeoGeo AES unit with 1 controller and Samurai Spirits for just around 100 bucks with shipping.
-
selling on eBay does kinda suck a fat one. The post-sale fees kind of blow, but I guess thats the price you pay for listing on such a massive site. The alternative is craigslist!
or some other auction sites

My life in a nutshell.

Funniest thing I heard in a while.
-
I get most of my stuff off ebay as there are few other options. Exception being body parts, since ebay sadly frowns upon the sale of those.
-
Dan hit the nail on the head.
I just hate that most games now are not bids anymore...
Too true - eBay is less of an auction site and more of a simple market place nowadays; case in point: there are 1289 listings for "turbografx" but only 124 of 'em are auctions.

Now if best offer was available on every buy it now, I'd be fine with that.

Not me; my experience has been that 'best offer' is just a tease. I've made dozens of offers and have yet to have a single offer even acknowledged, let alone accepted.
-
Hit japan is decent with best offers. He gave me King of Fighters 94 AES with my $10 dollar cheaper best offer and the game wasn't even going for much to begin with. Now, I have yet to do it for an uncommon game so maybe I should try that in the future. I have offered other best offers with other sellers and Hit-Japan is the only one that has ever accepted any of my them. If he doesn't accept my first offer he usually does with my 2nd one.
-
One time I offered 5$ less and got hit with the auto decline. You get 3 attempts.
I figured wtf, and offered 50 cents less. DENIED.
So I offered 1 penny less.
ACCEPTED!
jackasses.

Yeah, but in this case you are dealing with a very good seller who mostly sells "gomi-ge" and in huge volumes. I love Hit Japan!
Necromancer is probably talking about f*cks like Royvegas (or his Trojan twin) who are gouging in the first place and aren't in the mood to sell for anything less.

Actually I sell for less all the time. Have you made any legitimate offers on anything of mine to see? Of course you haven't, people like you just love to whine, bitch and point fingers. There's plenty of people on this site who have taken the time to at least ASK and we have made a deal. I can be your scapegoat though I guess.
-
I started this thread and it's called "Let's hear about the good side of ebay"
So keep that krrap for some other thread, or just bash each other through PM's.
You other guys were on a roll with the "good side of Ebay", so let's hear more..... The spelling in the search engine helps...I get different results for "pc-engine" compared to "pc engine". I also like to search "PCE". Anyone actually score a deal by searching the mispelled "turbografix" or "turbographics"?
-
I sometimes see decent deals for stuff listed under turboduo without mention of turbografx. I've never bought anything though, as all the good deals I've seen that way were for stuff I already have.
-
I got Dracula X for 48 euros shipped from the UK, it was listed incorrectly. This was November of '09.

Dude, my current forum avatar exists for a reason. Quit playing innocent.

I discovered this place late so back in 2002-03 i even used ebay, there was deals back then and i believe there was no "Buy it now" auctions.
Ebay is where i got Soldier Blade with manual and a generic case for mother f*cking $15 yo!! :P
There are deals to be had still but fewer, as soon as "buy it now" started ebay went to shit.
Like it or not Gamefreak negative will happen with talk of ebay which makes for good discussion or a hell of a Royale Rumble..... depending on the day.
-
I occasionally find deals on car parts and computer parts on ebay for BIN prices that are less than other online retailers. So for some stuff, ebay does work good.
Ever since the BIN thing started though, ebay has changed into a different animal. Here in a few years I'd be surprised if auctions exist at all.
-
I find ebay good for a lot of items, just not so much video games. It's sad that for a lot of games I'm better of hitting yahoo japan auction and going through a place like celga. Even with the fees and double shipping charges it's still cheaper than the bay. Also Rakuten can be your friend as well.
-
I don't really post too much, but couldn't resist this thread. About 2 years ago someone put up a huge lot of turbo/pce games with a low res picture and didnt list any of the game titles. From squinting at the picture a while i saw some good ones in there and bid away....
batman

..all for about $300. or maybe it was $350. i can't remember, but i think it was more than fair! :)
-
Good side would be that I got 90% of my TG hu cards from ebay. (you already know the bad side).
Also that you can get rarer games in a hurry (and build your collection faster)... =)
-
Best deal I ever had was back in either '02-'03, got a supergrafx system, steamhearts, linda3, strider and a couple of hu cards and a pcgt with tv tuner for a $250.00... shipped...
-
That's pretty sweet. I've always wanted Linda3, but its not very easy to find. When I do see it its not cheap.
