I played this through.
I officially don't think it's that bad.
Am I retarded?
-
In this case, yes.
-
Agreed. It's the short bus for you.
-
It would appear so.

sweet, can I lick the windows?

The Mods lie.*
It was one of the first games I owned. I've beaten it. Its actually a good game. The first was better. The Iron Claws are badass, and if you can get the lightning powerup and hit the pattern, the game is a cakewalk.
... even thought the dev team was ostracized and apparently never did anything, evAR after that. They probably work at gas stations.

Rastan Saga II deserves some love.

Agreed. Clearly, it has problems. :)
But, ultimately: Don't listen to the naysayers (http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=1682.msg16600#msg16600).

I kinda like it, I guess. Love it when the dude swings on ropes :D .
-
No sir i don't like it i rather play the third game in the serise warrior blade =;
-
It could be considered as a quite ok trash game IF not its prequel would have been one of the best and most stylish 80s arcade game!!!
That fact alone makes it one of the most retarded (sequel-)games of ever in the whole history of video games, and therefore it must be hatred to death for ever!
-
yep, like big Tat's said :).... Being a big fan of the original Rastan Arcade and even the weaker SMS version, this game should not even carry the name, as it is an ok game but only on its own... maybe it should have been called "The Big Awkward Guy with a Sword"
-
I have this game on an arcade compilation for the PS2, and it even blows. If the Arcade version is bad, then I can't imagine how bad a port would be. [-(

*Edit: Addendum to my last post -
Except Keranu :)
-
What is sad is that even the arcade version of Rastan Saga II looks like ass compared to the original.
-
Nastar Warrior or whatever? I played the Arcade version. I daresay it was worse, but I barely remember it.
-
from a gameplay standpoint though its not really too bad.
It looks f*ckin tarded but i mean, it plays alright.
-
I am very tempted to review this for the next PCE Gamer.

Future episode of Wibble maybe?

OK, OK, I'll review it...God help me.
-
God help me.
God usually doesn't help people who take hands on Rastan Saga II.
-
We should at least try to post some positives about 'ol Rasty II.
It's um..er, well. It's definitely a video game.

Sure, I will help you.

God has nothing to do with it. It's you and the game now.

All alone. Nobody but you and Rasty II. Sounds like the opening to a B-horror flick, or an awkward romance comedy. :P

I just got a PCE GT and it came with Rastan Saga. I knew the sound from the speaker wasn't working when I got. I plugged in my headphones to test it and turned on Rastan Saga and I got sound but it sounded like shit!
I put in Twin Bee after that and realized it was just Rastan. Detana sounded awesome.
Is it possible to get past the farting flame walls without getting hit?

Everything is possible in the Second Saga of Rastan. Do not discard this game. Hold it. Caress it. Kiss it. Play it. Love it. (http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=1682.msg16600#msg16600)
Rastan Saga II is an unpredictable, but worthwhile lover.

Yes.

I kind of like this game, the arcade version has good graphics and soundtrack which composed by Zuntata OGR. PCE's version has good color palette better than Genesis ver. The skin color of Rastan in Genesis likes already get poisoned.
-
lol yeah. don't you have some cool comparisons for this game as well? :)

Having beaten both, I will say this; the Sega version is faster. Much faster. There is a 1-second delay when switching weapons in the PCE version. And mind you, this is a observation, where the game pauses (like Energy's scrolling stages of meh) until it's figured out. I'm not hating on teh PCE although both versions of this game are tough to love. If it wasn't one of the first titles I evAR owned I prolly wouldn't care.
-
The Mega Drive version is a lot more playable and has better sound. Looks horrid though.
-
Take a listen of "PC Engine City" pod-cast number 06 at 22:38
I love this :-)
"Meaty graphics and thumping tunes" ............. "What did he say again" ........ "Thumping tunes you say" ... "well above average tunes you say" ....
LOL

TRUTH:
The problem with the music in PCE Rastan Saga II, I think, is the EXECUTION. The tunes themselves are fine, but they simply don't use the best instruments/sounds/mix levels/etc.
Ultimately, it sounds unnecessarily harsh, cheap, pathetic, tinny, amateurish. Think *IREM* and their missteps on PCE when it comes to music.
The main tune in Rastan is a muddled, all-treble, neo-medieval romp that quickly becomes repetitive. (It has some bizarre charm, catchiness, though. I used to hate this tune, but now it has grown on me.)
But, listening to Rastan's music independent of the game, and with a pair of headphones that can deliver some bass... well, Rastan Saga II is not that bad in the music department. There is more complexity to the compositions than you might realize. You can certainly do a lot worse in the PCE library.
