Unusual item, a Super Grafx redone with a white paint job, saw it for sale on ebay.

Star Wars edition = totally pimp. Considering it's region/RGB modded, that's not a terrible price either.
-
No shit, that thing will play anything and it already has the RGB mod. Don't know how much it costs because the auction only lists moon-money.
-
300 euros is about $400 greenbacks.
-
Nice!
-
It's preowner must be a Christian lissening to white metal all day long.
-
Awesome, but it's still an eight-pound yard of plastic.

Eight-pound yard of SEXY plastic :P I really like the look...though some black on the "hex" bolts, or circles on the side would look even better IMO.

I have long been under the impression that region-modding (more specifically, grounding pin 29) a SuperGrafx breaks Aldynes, one of the prime reasons to own a SuperGrafx in the first place.

I thought it's the King of Pop edition? and why didn't he paint the controller to match it too hehe

Couldn't you just unground pin 29 when the switch is set back to JP mode? Maybe even add an entire extra switch just for pin 29... a BIG switch...

Theoretically, I don't see why not. Never tried it.

Well now you have something to do tonight.

Or if you're using an IC region mod... change your SPST switch out for a DPDT switch and have one half of the switch controlling the grounding of pin 29. :P
Back on topic... looks cool. Not sure if I could drop $400 on it.. but still cool.

I guess my point was I highly doubt whomever did this mod took the whole Aldynes thing into consideration, but I could be wrong.
-
I think it looks kind of retarded now. Like "unfinished, gonna get scuffed to hell and shit" retarded.
I want a canary yellow setup.
-
I always wanted a console that looked like a Star Destroyer. Awesome!!!!
-
I think it looks great in the picture, but someone has to really understand how to paint in order to make something durable enough to actually use.

Yeah, I remember writing about that exact method (connecting the board to a DPDT switch) years ago. I wonder if anyone ever did try to see if Aldynes would run okay afterward. I can't possibly see a reason why it wouldn't though.
Now, as for the all-white SGX setup, It's neat, but there's... something missing here -- I think it might have to do with the SCD-ROM missing its letters. It would've been nice to have the lettering match that of the SuperGrafx. (bitch bitch bitch :D)
And yeah, not sure about how well that paint is going to stick, but that's a different matter.
-
that white paint is going to get dirty/gimpy in no time.i bet it arrives scuffed.

Not quite canary yellow, but close enough:

Being an "engine" and all, it'd be pretty cool if someone went all out and did the SuperGrafx in a metallic gray with different trim for the hex nuts and all.
