Title: Tales from the Monsterpath
Post by: sunteam_paul on February 19, 2011, 09:48:50 PM
I'm just watching a programme on NHK World TV and they're playing an arranged version of the music from Tales from the Monsterpath in the background. Is this a traditional Japanese tune? Pretty cool either way!

Japanese TV recycles lots of stuff.  I've heard music straight from Resident Evil 2 played
during nature programs...

This was an English language programme hosted by a Brit. It wasn't something I expected to hear and it took me a few seconds to place it.

A lot of Japanese TV shows use sound effects from Super Famicom games too.

A lot of Japanese TV shows use sound effects from Super Famicom games too.

There was a cell phone (North America, a few years ago) that, I SWEAR, used the "End Turn" sound effect from Nectaris/Military Madness.

I would be in public (i.e. airport) and hear the sound, from someone's phone!, but I never could verify it. It's happened a few times. I wish I could read an interview with a phone engineer where he/she basically says, "Yeah, we liked the SFX from Nectaris, so..."

This will not happen. Plus, the SFX from Nectaris (all video games) are derivative themselves. So, which came first? They both could be borrowing from a common source that predates everything.

Arrrghhhh.
