Post by: scuzzo84 on August 26, 2005, 07:46:43 AM
atomic robo kid is boring, and he looks like a coffee can with guns, and the weapons suck, and its all easy, and then all of a suddent the first boss is hard as hell

Wrong forum for this, but I don't mind Atomic Robo Kid, both the Genesis and the Special PCE version. I actually find it pretty fun!

I suck at shooters and I found that game incredibly easy.  I actually got bored as hell around level 9 or something and just quit, I agree it sucks ass.  If you want a good shooter similar to that, try Mr Heli.

I have to step in and defend Robo-Kid a bit here, possibly because it was one of my earlier PCE games so I have fond memories of it. It has some lovely graphics and apart from the tinny sound, it has one really excellent tune (around level 14ish I think - the gold level). I spent many hours trying to master it and was very proud of myself when I completed it while on holiday (yes I took my Engine everywhere with me in those days). The early levels are easy enough, bosses can be tough but just take a bit of strategy to complete. But it's certainly better than tripe like Rock on and Barunba.

I thought Barunba was pretty cool since it has Forgotten World's style game play along with some interesting, creative graphics.

Your avatar and signature rock, PC Engine Software webhost! By the way, I checked out your site the other day and the wallpaper section ruled and I am using your Youkai Dokai one right currently. Nice Atomic Robo Kid one as well along with some others. Great site, but I just wish you had some larger screenshots some times. Welcome aboard to our boards, mate! HAARR, HAAARRR, HAAAAAARRRRR!

Where does the border of your signature GIF come from, Paul? Looks like Gate of Thunder.

Ding! Correct.

Now can you name the games that the pics are from?

Hehe, my pleasure.

Gate of Thunder, Tengai Makyou II (This could be Kabuki Fuun Den, but I swear that shot is from Kabuki's TMII opening), Ai Cho Aniki, Cho Aniki, and I can't make out what the game is with the ship flying away from an explosion, but I am going to make a guess and say Avenger. Oh and that little cave kid with the huge head is from Bonk's Revenge of course ;) . (Well maybe Big Adventure technically).

Almost right:
It IS Kabuki Fuun Den and both are from Ai Cho Aniki. Avenger, correct.

And PC Kid 2.

Oh wow, that's right that both of them are from Ai Cho Aniki! I am damn surprised I got Avenger correct and I only guessed that because I saw a cinema screen shot for it before and it had similar style.
