So, here I am, in my basement, giving the cats fresh food and water and cleaning their litterboxes.
Glancing up, I see some large plastic bins with some of my PCE stuff and I say, "I wonder where Final Soldier is. Heck, where are all the Soldier games?"
I begin listening to some chiptunes... and, in light of some recent discussions here at pcefx, I think, "I have to make an honest comparison of the soundtracks in the Soldier series."
Which ultimately led to this:

Simply put: I want to listen to this in its entirety! Who has listened to it already? Thoughts? Kermel, stop your life and and help me out :)
Personally, I love "TurnOn", since it dances close to muzak/easy jazz, without crossing the line. It's a wonderfully eccentric track (I actually love the saxophone/oboe stuff!), but Track 4 and 6 are, sadly, firmly in muzak/easy jazz territory. Now, that's not to say I don't like them. I will appreciate them for being alternate versions of the chiptunes, certainly... but they are not nearly as intriguing as Track 3 (TurnOn), IMHO.
So... Track 1? Track 2? Track 5? Give me the scoop :)

Thanks for posting this. You should feed your cats more often!

I just listened to the three sample tracks, and I have to say, that Track 6 (Taking Off~Sole Warrior~Progression) is the standout for me. A medley of the first three stage themes remixed, it's a pretty powerful piece as presented here.

I listened to a couple of them and found them rather... crappy. I dunno. They didn't do anything for me at all.

I have been listening to these tracks whilst doing chores. I am liking them even more now, after repeated listens. My original verdict, however, remains unchanged.

Seriously. The only reason I go into the basement is for (a) cats, or (b) laundry. It should come as no surprise that these are the only times when I am inspired to rotate some fresh new games into my playlist and put some games back into storage. I don't have enough room to keep all my consoles/libraries out, all the time.
Otherwise, I just keep playing whatever happens to be in the immediate vicinity of the guest room (aka video game sanctuary).

That's because you have to listen to "TurnOn" again and bask in the glory of alternating saxo-oboe & guitar greatness. Goddamn, spenoza, get with the program :).
Don't worry, though: I have to prescribe the same advice to nat, who, inexplicably, does not agree with me either! Goddamn philistines!

Obviously, see my comment to spenoza above. You are cleary mistaken. The only standout track is TurnOn!
Anyway, about Track 6: It's starts off in a promising manner, but then, as I say, gets uber schmaltzy (with the chorus/refrain) for the last 2/3 of the medley.
The good news is that I am in the mood right now an overly theatrical rendition of these songs, so I certainly am digging it. BUT, that said, the stand out is clearly "TurnOn" (I'm glad you've come to your senses and now agree with me on this point).

Is there a mediafire link for the whole album?
