Since there has been so much talk of the Midwest gaming classic, Is anyone going to the too many games expo in the Philadelphia PA area?
Here is the website. Its usually not very large although they have moved it to a larger forum this year so maybe they are planning on a larger turnout.

It would only be ~2 hour drive, so I might go.
I have to see if I already have a commitment on May 7 or 8.
-
I will be outta town, or else I would've given it a try.
-
Unfortunately, I cannot enter the state of PA for another few years. :(

Did you steal coal? :-s :P

I'll keep my eye on this thread, I am always down for a con. Better than NEC in cold ass January. Philly does have some odd beer rules, bur if you plan ahead you're good.
-
I don't think I can afford more than two cons per year. :(
-
I doubt it make it this year much as i like to.
-
Aw crap- I'll actually be just 30 minutes from there April 11th-15th...... I really don't think its in my budget to make another trip.... damn!

Especially since Mad-Gear (16-Bit) is scheduled to be a vendor there too!

You guys stink! You don't have to buy anything, goddammit. Just show up.
:)

Agreed. :P
Yea Mad Gear is annoying and so damn unfriendly. The rules surrounding alcohol in this state are beyond ridiculous.

"Beer may only be purchased from a restaurant, bar, licensed beer store, or distributor. Beer distributors mainly sell cases and kegs of beer, not smaller volumes of beer such as six packs. Six and twelve packs, along with individual bottles such as 40 ounce or 24 ounce beers, are sold at bars, restaurants, and licensed retailers. A consumer is limited to 192[1] ounces of beer per purchase. For larger quantities one must go to a beverage distributor which sells beer only by the case or keg. Beverage distributors (which also sell soft drinks) may sell beer and malt liquor, but not wine or hard liquor. Unlike the Wine and Spirits shops, people under 21 may enter most beverage distributors without an adult, subject to the rules of the individual establishment."
Basically, you can't goto the Stop-n-Shop and get a forty at 1am. As long as you plan ahead, you can have a good night. Else, you're dropping $$$ at a bar.

The Turbofesters and I had little trouble be-friending MadGear. Once he realized who we were he warmed up a little.

So, what other east coast options are available in the upcoming months? If "Too many games" is the only one i can drive to, I'll make a commitment to go.
As for beer/alcohol, was that in reference to MGC or Too Many Games?

That was just in reference to the state of Pennsylvania and their liquor laws.

Sure you can :D
-
Heh, it would be nice. :)

I know I'll be there in May. I attend TMG at least once a year and am certainly looking forward to it this time around. Unfortunately I'll only be there for one of those days. I go just to look for Turbo stuff, nothing else when shopping. Hopefully this one has more to offer than past ones which were good, but certainly not great. Something to look forward to none the less. Pennsylvania overall is nothing to write home about, but its home. Wish I still lived in Arkansas though.

Yeah ill be there my girl lives in philly!!!!! Awesome thnx for info!!
-
There is a game expo in philly in september as well
-
Really?, what's it called?
-
Vgxpo its. In oct. Just google. Vgxpo philly october. I can't do a link cause I'm on a moble

Anyone going needs to wear something turbo related to contrast from the rest of the joes and make yourself easier to spot. I'm fairly certain there is a shop in my town that can make custom tees. I've already got an idea for a cool one. 8)
-
Well, as of now, I'm going to TMG, though I'm not sure if I'll go for just one day or longer.
I'll be shirtless.
-
I'm going if I'm together with my girlfriend and I have a place to crash. Its either hit or miss. Even though I could just take a train

Is it neon green or orange?
I'll be shirtless.
No black mesh shirt with gold chains?
-
Nice! If it was the 80s hell yeah!! I'd rock it

I don't have any. I'll just make a name tag :P

Just take a couple of markers and draw the TG16 symbol on the back of a white tee. Under that, write OBEY! and PCEngineFX.com under that in small but readable print. Should grab everyone's attention there. :P

Sadly, no.

Nice to see this show get some mention here.
I've been going to the show since the very first one back in September 2004. It has really had its ups and downs in terms of programming and attendance #s, but this should be a solid show. The nice thing about the event "for buyers" is that the vendor room is about the same size at midwest gaming classic, but attendance is about 1/3 of the show. Between 10am and 1pm it is a mad buying and selling rush, but after 1pm sales drop off so it is a good time to haggle with sellers for some really good deals if there is something leftover that interests you.
Not really sure if I will have my usual amount of PCE stuff available at the show, but I will be aiming to blow out a lot of the inventory I am bringing, and as the folks who attended MGC know, I am always willing to haggle if it is a nice sized package deal :)

Oh noes he's here 8-[ ....hehe :P. Thanks 16-bit.
-
No 8 bit did cut deals and save us cash. - dunno if I'm going though. Well see

Are we gonna man any Turbo-centric area? Or just game it up in a hall? Anyone be able to pick me up from the airport on Saturday morning, it's about 20 miles down the road. Also, anyone getting a hotel room that is not bringing a wife and kids? It's hard for me to bring systems, but I can grab a Hu or two, even a flash card with some goodies loaded up.
-
Tony, you can crash with me, but I don't think I will be able to help with logistics from the airport tho...
It is very likely that Jon is coming from Ohio.

Majors ur going? Well than I may make the trip. Ill be staying w my girlfriend if she doesn't dump me. I may be able to get u a ride. My girl works at the philly airport give me the hotel addy and ill let u know
-
Philly is real good city for me to fly into, 4 flights a day from Greensboro, NC.
-
Very tempting... But it's roughly $600 I can't convince myself to spend on an awesome gaming convention right now... Maybe as the time draws nearer I'll win the lottery and finances will no longer be a concern. :)
-
Just a heads up for anyone considering traveling to the show: via Priceline I got a $46 bid per night accepted for a 2.5 star hotel right across from the expo center.
-
Good to know - that would shave off $100 from my estimate!

I am planning on going and I am driving in from NJ (East Hanover). How many seats do you need? I have minivan and hatchback, but I don't think I'll be bringing the minivan (my wife prefers it). :)
So, the airport shouldn't be a problem, assuming we harness the powers of modern technology (phones) to make the pickup painless.
16-bit, I used to buy a lot of stuff from you via ebay (many years ago) and put in a good word here and elsewhere. :)

Less than a week! Who is still good?
<Don't forget to call Mom on Sunday!>
-
yeah me and my girlfriend broke up for the 40th time so I have no place to crash and the train is to much of a pain in the ass
-
I think you call that a fight.
-
Ha ha well we brake up for 2 months at a clip.
-

I am probably going on Friday. I'm not sure about the other days. Otherwise I feel the marketplace will be pillaged.
-
Starts today! All the good deals get cherry picked right now. I'll be there in less than 24 hrs, with a pocket full of Hu's.
-
Got to talk to 16-bit aka Mad Gear for awhile today. Great guy to deal with and I recommend you visit his booth. I had to buy some of the artwork that people had made. It was all very cool to see artistic talent as it relates to gaming in general.
-
Good times, did not get enough turbo since EVERYONE forgot to bring a system. Plus way too "tired" at the end of the day. A buddy of Mad-gear, who ran the PCB's at his booth, did bring this little treasure:

I managed to get a loose Double Dungeon and Bloddy Wolf for free, score.
More of my piss poor photos here (http://wedoca.dyndns.biz/gallery/index.php?level=album&id=8).
