Title: Did Ys I & II come with a map?
Post by: BEERS AND VIDEOS on March 29, 2011, 03:16:39 AM
So, I bought Ys I & II back in 1991 and still have the same copy. While I didn't keep the outer box, I thought I had everything else complete. Recently I've heard that there was a map included with the disc, manual, case, etc. Did it? It's not like me to be throwing out maps and I seriously don't remember any sort of map, but then again, I am almost 35 and my memory isn't what it used to be...  ](*,)

I got Ys packed with my Turbo Duo and I don't remember it having a map either.  35 here too so could be a memory issue, but I don't remember a map for Ys.

The pack-in version did not have the map, only the boxed retail version.

I have two copies of the map stored away somewhere. It's not a very impressive piece of paper but it's still kinda cool. :) And actually... when I bought my Duo, it did indeed include the map. Maybe only a few of them got it? Because I only ever bought one retail version of the game, and yeah, it had the map too.

Great, so I'm just losing my mind... Oh well. I'll have to track down one of those maps.

I scanned the map. I can send you a copy if you PM me with your email address.

It's really more of a collector's item than a useful map. Unlike the maps for Dragon Slayer:Legend of Heroes and Might & Magic III:Isles of Terra which contain useful information (like a full list of spells and items on the flip side) and show a detailed topography.

It's kind of a map but not really.  It won't help you through any mazes.

I have the map that came with Ys 1&2.  It is so incredibly useful!  It aided me greatly in beating the game.  I have some thumbtacks... should I hang it on my wall?  Or should I scotch tape the corners?  PROTIP:  The map is even compatible with the SMS version of Ys!!!!!!

I have the map too- I usually just look at that rather than the TV when I play the game.

I tape my map to the TV screen because it's so useful!

One of my favorite threads.

Very cool. Why I didn't keep it, I have no idea. It doesn't even look familiar...
