After the other thread about GT/portable games, I'm much more receptive to the idea of the F1 racing games, golf and baseball games that I'd previously ignored. And they're also quite cheap.
But I don't see much point in owning more than one of each (so far anyway).
Can someone recommend me the best game in each genre and why?
For instance, bonuses to me would be; non-reliant on Japanese, big sprites, RPG elements, good music.

Nice, thanks for that! I was looking for Hucards ratehr than CDs for the portability factor, but that could be worth picking up if the price is right. I'm gonna have a look on that site for more.

Winning Shot (http://www.thebrothersduomazov.com/search/label/Winning Shot) is pretty neat for HuCard golf.

That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for!

World Class Baseball for sure, it's one of my all time favorite baseball games. The controls are simple, it not overly complicated and pitching is super fun, it's also quick to play through a game.
-
I think that World Class Baseball/Power League got better through subsequent games. I have played all of them at least a little bit, and I would recommend 3 or 4. I haven't actually played 5 yet. Final Lap Twin is a pretty cool game, so I'll second that recommendation. I am just starting to scratch the surface of Golf games on the PCE, so I can't give any advice on those yet.

I'm probably biased towards World Class Baseball since it's a childhood memory also but I still have more fun playing it than the subsequent ones through power league 93. The newer ones may have more options and fixed a few of the quirks of the original but for just playing and killing 15 minutes on a baseball game I prefer dos equis.

This guy just listed a grip of $5 golf and baseball games:

Baseball=Power League series (they're all good and get better every time so 93 is the best)
Golf=I don't know. I hate golf and golf games.
F1=F1 Circus series

Oh nice!
I ordered a crapload from hit japan earlier though. It's entirely ridiculous, but I ordered 13 games today -____-

What about Go Go birdie chance? Anyone played that one?

Go Go is a favorite of mine. But requires high japanese level to truly enjoy.

I enjoy Power Golf as a basic golf title. There's only one course, but there are different players with different skill levels to choose from. The gameplay itself is solid, and the graphics aren't awful.
It's a good pick up and play golf game, and a good starting point. It surely isn't the "best" the system has to offer in the golf department, however.
-
I also need to get me Go! Go! birdie chance one day.

Power Golf is great. It is very simple but very accurate. Great value for the price you pay. I like to aim way over to the side and slice or hook it back on course .
I thought Power Golf 2 (JPN) would be a step up from the 1st one, but I was disappointed. Even though it is a CD game and uses the NEC mouse but overall was frustrating. Maybe I'll give it another try soon.
I really want to try Winning Shot...That looks good. It looks similar to Power Golf but with better looking graphics.

That's actually fairly cheap for eBay. It usually cracks $100.
