Title: Malfunctioning Duo-RX pad...
Post by: CGQuarterly on April 18, 2011, 08:03:35 PM
I just got a Duo-RX pad in the mail.  It acts as if the left direction is always being pushed.  I took the controller apart so that there was no chance that the conductive rubber was touching the contacts, and it still does it.  I didn't see any obvious problems, like a short somewhere.  Could it be anything else besides the IC being bad?  I'd really like to get this controller working...

Thanks,

Chris

is the pad set to 6 button mode or 2 button mode? I find that that happens to me sometimes when I use a 6 button pad in 6 button mode to play some of the older titles that were designed to use just a 2 button pad and once I switched the pad to 2 button mode it would go back to normal.

Like I said, it does it when it's just the bare PCB, but I imagine that the default mode is probably 6-button mode.  So maybe I should check the 2-6 button switch.  Thanks for the tip - I'll report back.

Thanks, RR.  I gave the switch contacts and the contacts on the PCB an extra-thorough cleaning and now it works fine.  Thanks for the tip!
