Title: I translate for the turbo community and get banned for it?
Post by: Lionheart on April 19, 2011, 08:44:23 AM

For those that doubted my contributions to the Turbo world.

Its sad that the community is run by such immature individuals. Anyways ban me again, I translate games because the TurboGrafx was and will always be my favorite system, its a shame most of its fans love civil wars.

I am RPGlegend,  dunno why I was banned. I figured its for flaming someone in the "warzone" or whatever, why even have that room if your gonna ban people for flaming. Whatever I'm over this place.

Gah, fan translators are such attention whores sometimes. So, you're "over" this place, but not so much that you don't have time to set up at least one new fake account and come back here to gloat about an announcement of a patch. Not the actual patch, no, just the announcement. If the thing actually comes out you'll probably want your name on the dollar bill or some shit.

Whatever you got banned for, it was probably pretty significant. I've said some pretty harsh stuff over the last decade or so, and I'm still here. Perhaps it was some sort of scam, or maybe you dropped too many racist or homophobic remarks. Those are really the only things that will get people banned here (excluding outright batshit stalker weirdness like Ninteg-whatshisname).

Haha, what the hell? What is it about this forum that makes these nutcases keep coming back?

Point me in the direction of one single thing you've ever translated, in your entire life. Furthermore, what on Earth do you have to do with the Xanadu II translation? What was your contribution, a link to the thread announcing it? Bad news, the actual translator ("SamIAm") is already here posting updates on his progress.

I can safely speak for everyone (except Keranu) when I say nobody has been missing your nonsequitor pictorial "contributions" since we threw your ass out the first time around. Ah yes, the contributions: the slander and threats against the site owner, plagiarism of certain members' property, and the harassment of certain other forum members. Contributions indeed. Yes, thank you for coming back and allowing us this trip down memory lane. Fun though it's been wallowing in the annals of yesteryear, I think you've contributed quite enough already to last us through the next millennium.

I should thank you, though. At least now we've got a Validus monument to throw up in the Hall of Shame.

Funny how the linked thread was started on March 18th.  RPGleotard didn't even know about Xanadu II yet because he was too busy leaking someone else's  project that day:
http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=9430.msg164353#msg164353

Apparently being emailed the details makes him part of the "team" "working on" Devilman.

There's a special layer in hell for those who take credit for the work of others.

Alright... what'd I miss this time...

You dunno what you're missing because every time there is sweet drama flaring up you post a "shrug it off"/"I don't care about this" response and stop being involved, lol.

You are missing out on all the lulz!  all the drama!  The action, the suspense!  THERES A WAR GOING ON.  WERE ALL IN THE TRENCHES THROWIN GRENADES AND YOURE BACK AT BASE EATING BEANS AND PICKIN' BOOGERS MAN. GET OUT THERE AND GO ALL BLOODY VOLT ON THIS SHIT.  YEAHH!HH!~!!

bonus OBEY points to any of you who remember the Bloody Volt on eBay, lol.

Also, there is no team working on Devilman, that shit on NES was done by ONE person.  I sent them an email to ask if they knew about the PCE project.  I never got a reply.  I assume its because they had NFI what I was talking about.

also, LionFart is a tool.

END OF LINE.

I'm still confused. Who is this guy? There's no way this is Nintega. That guy has an IQ of like 70 (and I'm being generous today). There's no way he could be involved in any translation.

Are you referring to the translated version? I am not up to speed on what's been released, and what hasn't concerning PCE community projects. If the translation has been done I'll be all over that. :D

Validus/AnRPGLegend/whoever you are the sooner you admit to yourself that half your life is a carefully constructed fantasy the sooner you can be a productive member of the gaming community. Until then you'll only be ridiculed. Which will it be???

Search for "Validus" on "Forums Only" (http://www.tg-16.com/search_results.htm?cof=FORID%3A11&ie=UTF-8&q=validus&sa=Search&cx=003841484127283117371%3A-vzhffvgmqg&siteurl=www.tg-16.com%2F#902)

I suggest you try the dedicated search on that page whenever the search function here on pcefx comes up short. I still need to tweak things (i.e. getting rid of the "mobile" and "print page" versions), but it will do well for now.

:)

Part of the problem with Validus is the first time around, not only did we ban him (for life) from the forum, we completely obliterated all evidence he'd ever been here. Account, threads, messages, everything. A stupid move in retrospect, as now we're missing lots of laughs had at his expense. But it was easier than going through each thread he'd "contributed" to and weeding out the really offensive stuff. That's why you don't get much for results when you do a search for "Validus"-- all that remains of that original terror spree is whatever other users may have quoted in their own messages.

His MO (and one of the reasons he was originally banned) is showing up and taking credit for (plagiarising) other people's work. There is lots more to the saga than that, but it's interesting to see he's still up to his old antics (ie, taking credit for translations he has no part in).

So to cut to the chase does this mean this thread is nulled? there is no delay to the progress of the Kaze No Densetsu Xanadu II translation?
as personally that's all I care about, I personally have zero interest in forum dramas.

Of course there's no delay, this guy doesn't have any more to do with the Xanadu II translation than you had in the creation of the original game.

I'm confused by this post and some of the responses. What exactly are your contributions to the Turbo world and which games have you translated?

The link implies that you are translating LoXII. Is that what you mean?

Okay, let's see if I got this straight.....

LionHeart, aka Validus, used to be a member here, before he got banned for 1) Creating tons of topics and posting pointless pictures in other peoples topics and 2) Taking credit for works he had nothing to do with, such as a FAQ written by "mrgreen".  (I read -all- those old search/linked pages, trying to fingure out what he had done, and that's basically what it boiled down to)

Now he's back, under a new name, and taking credit for working on the Xanadu II fan translation. (There's also some debate over something with 'devil' in the title, but the topic summary doesn't go back that far :-)

We know he's probably -not- doing the Xanadu II stuff; SamIAm hangs around here, and he named a different helper (Esperknight). Yet Lionheart uses the original announcement thread on RomHacking.net as proof, even though there is no sign of him there. (Hey, if you're not using the same name, I need proof it's you: post a message there and then -immediately- post here the exact same message, so we can compare the names. Otherwise, theres no proof you're even registered there at all.)

Now, I came in just a bit late for the Validus drama, so I don't know if this is the same guy or not; I tend to believe the mods, though, since they have to tools available to track those things. And I have to believe he was really obnoxious about it as well; Zeta and Necro get away with some pretty borderline behavior, but.... You know they're doing it for fun. At least they seem to be trying to be so over-the-top that you lol for a while, and then move on.

And, if I have to guess about who he really is on that romhacking.net thread, I'm going with the cpt guy - you know, the one who hates translations, and seems to have contributed one (already mentioned) translated version of one of the characters names.

FWIW, I've had this problem happen to me as well; Years ago someone saw my nick and started registering it on lots of programming sites, claiming credit for what I had done. My response was the same one I'll make now: Put Up or Shut Up. Post something -NEW- from the game, with a message from SamIAm (who we know IS working on the translation) saying that yes, it is from the game, and not stolen. Otherwise, just go away. Or lurk quietly.

(And for those who do wonder, I ended up posting a sample of a game, which the guy claimed credit for. I then asked how to get to the 'debug' screen, and he said there wasn't one. When I posted details of how to see it, he got laughed out of about a dozen different places :-)

...[edit]...
OOps. Forgot the reason I started this post.
Anyone save his avatar? Maybe we can put it in the next demo of Pyramid Plunder, instead of the bats. Or maybe replace Otto with it in In5anity......

Uh, hi.

I don't know who this guy is, but other than the voice actors helping with the dub, Esperknight and I are the only ones in on the project.

The LoX: II translation is doing fine, by the way. I've translated and edited about half of the script, while the other half remains undumped as it is apparently stored a bit differently. In the meantime, I'm keeping busy dealing with voice actors and line submissions, as well as attempting to do one of the characters myself.

I don't especially care what kind of special notoriety I have around here beyond not being confused with this guy. In case anyone wants to know, though, I live in Fukuoka City, Japan, where I teach private English lessons and translate part-time for a design company and an art museum. I'm 26. My favorite color is orange. You'll just have to take my word for it, I guess.

I don't especially care what kind of special notoriety I have around here beyond not being confused with this guy.

Neither did I, but you probably appreciate that people like your work, and it almost certainly annoys you when someone else claims it as theirs, I assume. If not, you are a better man than I.

I live in Cleveland, Ohio (well, just outside of it, actually), and am a retired programmer who acts as a maid/chef/secretary for my wife. She is an electrical engineer / CAD Drafter, depending on what her company needs done :)
I'm 49+ and my favorite color is purple.

Welcome Aboard. And don't take anything said in these forums too seriously :)

Orange ? What a preposterous claim ! What sort of man likes orange ?  [-(

:P

Don't worry, I believe you're not that guy. And apreciate the work you do even if I have yet to experience it first hand.

Hah, we should have a thread on pcefx loonies -- Interesting how ones that were banned, come back, might behave for a few days, but it doesn't take long until their weird habits & symptoms start popping up again.  And sure enough, people figure who they are, and get banned again.  It's amazing -- it's not like this place is seriously strict or anything, too!

Talk about crazies, there was that one seriously insane dude whose whose language became more and more erratic until it literally became unintelligible in the span of like 6-7 posts.  Damn, I can't remember his name, but I somehow recall it being in a sales thread or something, where he went from perhaps a just a regular non-native English speaker (Gernman or Polish, maybe?) to some lunatic rambling in his own psychobabble tongue.  Must've been around the time of Validus, actually...  Anyone remember that whackjob?

I used to think Validus was a cut above Ninny, 'cuz at least when he was banned, he stayed away.

Not so, obviously.

I think for some of these wacky folks, our board is one of the few meaningful social relationships they have. Yes, a dysfunctional relationship, but it's something.

I used to think that anonymity alone simply brought out the "douchebag" in otherwise "normal" people. But some individuals clearly transcend simple rudeness and occupy "an alternate reality" of their own.

Think of it: modern technology has allowed us to spend more time with clinically deranged individuals than we would otherwise have had the pleasure of interacting with.

Progress.

It's like when people driving cars become jerks...  They act in ways they'd never act face-to-face.

This would have prompted me to make a joke about a certain trainwreck of a series, but since none of you would get it, eh :P
