I was alerted to this site (http://www.unikgamer.com/) by the webmaster who is a fan of wibble (and may be kindly hosting it for me in future). It allows you to rank games from multiple systems and view the overall scores etc.
I complained there wasn't a PCE/TG16 chart, so he's made one - now all it needs is a mob of OBEYers to get them to add all the titles they are missing, as well as make your own chart so we can get Shinobi off the top 10 (there really are better games).
*sounds bugle to advance the troops*

I submitted an OutRun skin for the site and they put it up :) The skins are random when you click to and fro from the pages.
I want to do a PCE related one but just can't decide which!
-
My PC Genjin theme is finally up on the site, go and OBEY.
-
I'm on there. I had a conversation with the guy about the PCE stuff, nice one on all the work you put in!

Are you thinking about moving on from Wibble Paul?

We definitely need more people who've actually played the PC Engine ranking games for it. The list as it currently stands (http://www.unikgamer.com/tops/top-pc-engine-turbografx-16-games-56.html) looks like it's been heavily influenced by those who have barely played the PCE and just ranked games they played on other consoles that had PCE ports. I can't think of another reason why Golden Axe would be at number 3 right now. People use this site as a tool for figuring out what games are worth trying when they get a new system, and I don't think any of us want someone dismissing the console because one of the supposedly best games for it is a shitty port, so I we really should try to get some more members on board to fix up this list, even if they don't want to mess with the site otherwise.

Maybe you meant "host" as in hosting your show on his site?

'Storing the show on his webspace' is a clearer way of saying it. It would be cool as then I could have all episodes up for download and not worry about exceeding my limited bandwith usage.
Although funnily enough, I have been a bit worried about continuing it these last few weeks...if it goes up there and gets more listeners, Mr Copyright might come knocking at my door.

As you are in the UK, are you not taking enough care to try to stay within the rules of Fair Dealing? US Fair Use is more permissive, so if you stick to the more restrictive UK standard you should be OK.

That's the thing. Even being generous I don't think I could get away with saying it's 'fair use'. It's only that the music is from ancient machines and nobody sells CD soundtracks of old chip sound any more (as far as I know) that convinced me to go ahead with it in the first place. Sure, there's a lot more blantant copyright breaches all over the internet, but that doesn't help me if I get targetted. (Also I think US law probably applies as they are not stored on UK servers).
PC Engine City ran for 24 episodes. Maybe that's a good, natural length for a podcast and wibble should do the same.

I think the problem is, it doesn't always distinguish between different platforms.
So if "golden Axe" is popular on the megadrive, and "golden axe" is a PC Engine game, then "golden axe" is a popular game which is on the PCE, not a popular PCE game. If you will.

The way it works is that there's a main top games list, which indeed generally doesn't distinguish between consoles, but this main list does not feed into the other list. The PC Engine list, like the other console lists, is the combination of all of the individual lists specifically made for that console. I rather like this system, as it does generally get around the issue of varying quality of ports, but that only happens when it's dominated by those users who actually know the console well, and that doesn't seem to be the case with the PC Engine list at the moment.

I think this is a pretty well designed site. My top 25 games of all time is gonna take some time, but I know there will be at least 3 Castlevania games in there somewhere though.

I would hate to see you get in any trouble for your labor of love, Paul. :(

Papissama has just finished adding a big long list of PCE games I sent him to the site. Not everything, but at least we have some more variation now (and Star Parodier is finally on the list!)
