While this "counter review" made me giggle:

Another gameplay element that just doesn't fly today is in the level design. Although the game worlds aren't technically big, they are infuriatingly confusing. Most dungeons are frustratingly convoluted mazes, with pointless dead ends and different sections that are visually indistinguishable from one another. This problem is compounded by the fact that there is no in-game map to reference.
Just another pussy that can't handle 'real' games. [-(

I don't know why, but it seems like no one understands the Ys games anymore.
I work at a game store, and one of my coworkers bought each of the Ys games on release day.
I naturally got excited because they're awesome and i thought he'd play em.
his response:
"nah, not gonna open em, these limited boxes are gonna be big money eventually, i think these why's games look stupid."

I don't get how in this age of arm flapping gameplay, people complain about the ramming gameplay in Ys games. Even if you don't appreciate its subtleties, on the surface Ys looks like SFII compared to the average Wii game.
