Anyone heard of this game that was never released in 1993?

I don't remember if this is the same name, but there is an unreleased/unfinished AD&D Turbo game that at least one real looking screen shot exists for that has been posted around here in the past.

Awesome. Thanks for posting this. I'm a huge Gygax fan and have most of his D+D, Castles and Crusades, and Greyhawk-related stuff.
I read Gygax's answers to fan questions for years on various listservs and at the Dragonsfoot forums and never heard him talk about this intriguing piece of vaporware.
I wonder if it would have been a U.S. only release like Beyond Shadowgate.
I did a couple quick searches at Dragonsfoot and nothing came up (http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=50&sid=1528f1b4e3e4453755dc6aabe0a78bb6). Too bad he's not around to ask anymore.

I don't recall hearing about this one before, so thanks for sharing such neato goodies. Someone at TTi must've really loved rolling the 38 sided dice, as trying to get two exclusive D&D games on the Turbo was rather ambitious - probably foolhardy as well, considering their limited appeal.

Dangerous Journeys is a completely different RPG system Gygax developed after falling out with TSR. I don't know if its rules have been used for any video games, but it probably would have been quite different than the SSI games.

Interesting. Anyone know about the pictures in question?
-
I think there may have been 2 pictures, one that looked like a mock up, & one (or maybe even a second one?) that looked like the real deal. They've all been posted on here somewhere in the forums, I don't recall who posted them, but I want to say Steve666 aka Esteban.

Bit of an update:
I asked about this over on Dragonsfoot (the online bastion of 1st Edition D&D grognards) thinking that this game would be some esoteric topic. My response was an immediate "oh yeah, there's an ad for that in the last page of your copy of Necropolis." So, apparently this game is common knowledge among Gygax fans.
I bought the original '92 edition of the book. Note that the game was also scheduled for SNES and PC (by JVC and EA). Here are the scans:

Great little update :-)
All we need to do now is to call 1-800-366-0136 for more information ;-)

*rolls 38 sided die*
*cries again*
Gygaxian SCD games would have ruled.

There is a screen shot in the Turbo Force Vol 1 Issue 4 Spring 1993. I should probably scan an post it before I mail it off...

Yes, PLEASE post a scan! I will be your best friend.

OK, I found this jpeg at the TurboPlay Magazine Archives (http://archives.tg-16.com/index.htm). Offsidewing - a closer scan would still be awesome if you can do it.

It's great to see that development was actually started on this game.

Oh it looks like Heroes of the Lance, nevermind. lol
-
Damn...Dragon Slayer 2 would have been nice.

Yeah, the fact that it's listed as "Adventure" and not "RPG" is troubling. What I wonder is why JVC and EA never released their versions. Perhaps they were waiting to make ports of TTI's game.
Damn...Dragon Slayer 2 would have been nice.
I don't mourn the loss of the PCE ports too badly, but I was looking forward to that one. Have you tried the import? Any thoughts?
-
The import is saweeeeeet

Sorry, no I haven't given that one a shot. I figure it would just be too difficult with the japanese.

Genre's like RPGs and digital comics are really really difficult to fully enjoy without fluency in the language the game is written in. Even with a walkthrough you are missing something, you can find things to enjoy and appreciate, but there's something missing.
