I am close to tracking down a FZ-1 and I have a question. I have heard that one would need memory manager software that was included with the system to, well, manage the saved games. Is this true? I had one of these in high school but for the life of me I can't seem to remember. ](*,)

The system has no built in memory manager. A lot of games have the manager on disc though.
If nothing else, just burn a manager disc.

Nice! Thanks guys! :D

Has anyone ever heard of the backup memory in the system dying? IF so, is it easily repairable/replaced? Is it a common occurrence?

I haven't, but I'm a 3DO noob. I signed up over at the 3DO forums last week, but I have a FZ-10 and haven't concerned myself with the FZ-1 stickies.
May I ask why you're wondering? Didn't you just order a FZ-1 and doesn't it have yet to arrive?

Yeah it's not here yet. I am like an expectant father pacing around the waiting room hoping everything will be okay when it arrives. Obviously having a functional backup save feature will be a must with Star Control II.
