I was just thinking, what system do you think looks the best and why??
Turbo DUO
PCE DUO
DUO-R
DUO-RX
PCE IFU
Tubograx CD
PCE with super CD Rom
-
The Black PCE Duo.
Stealth Mode.
-
I like the RX. I think the classic gray color with the purple button really looks sharp. I also like having the cords in the back, because having systems withs cords sticking out the side ruins its look on the shelf to me.
-
I love the look of the TurboDuo, but the alternate color accents of the PCE Duo kinda ruins it for me.
I prefer the Duo RX over the Duo R.
-
None of the above. I pick the SuperGrafx... it's so ugly, it's beautiful. It looks like NEC consulted HR Giger for the case design. lol
-
Turbo Duo. Sleek and hi-tech without the odd Japanese color scheme.
-
Man I go back and forth between liking one more than another. This week it's the US Turbo Duo. :)
-
US TurboDuo, hands down. Best looking system NEC ever produced, with the PC-FX being a close contender.
-
I vote for the PCE Duo. With it's slim and slick classic black casing it just appeals to me more as an adult today.
-
I always thought the IFU-30 was the best looking by far. The cover, eject lever, the locking power switch in the front, the way the PCE and CD-ROM2 slide in side by side... It's beautiful in an industrial sense. I read that NEC/Hudson went with a mini-din 8 plug for the controllers because they wanted it to look more like a PC than a game console. I think they completely succeeded with the IFU-30 package - it looks like a machine, not a toy.

yeah I used to think the IFU was looking like the height of technology and don't forget it had the karaoke amp too! great gaming, cd audio AND karaoke that's pretty much all a late 80s playboy would need at his pad, right!? hehe
-
Well, I'm not so big a fan of the Duos, but I really like the IFU setup, the Supergrafx and the Super CD with Core II.
-
Im gonna have to go with the PC Engine Duo as well. I really like the color scheme. Coming in a close second, would be the Turbo Duo, followed by the white PC Engine/CD briefcase set-up.
-
PCE Core & CD-ROM IFU30 combo = sexiest thing ever made by humains hand.
standalone I would say the DUO and the LT.
-
Yeah, I also think the PCE Core + CD-ROM IFU30 is my favorite of the bunch, with the US TurboDuo a close second. I miss my Duo...
The TG16+ CD-Rom attachment should be worthy of some sort of award... Maybe a "What were the designer's thinking" award? It truly is ... unique.
-
You should add a poll to the original posting!
I vote for the US Duo. Clean black and awesome! PC-FX is second. Then supergrafx + super cdrom.
-

This - pretty much.
Out of the non-Duos systems, the briefcase setup with original white PCE is a great looking system too.
The TG16 + CD-ROM setup isn't as sharp as the other variants, but I've never considered it ugly.
-
TurboDuo, no contest.
-
TurboDuo, no contest.
I like the sleek pod-like look of the Duo-R a litle more than the almost pod look of the TurbobDuo
Too bad it wasn't black like the Duo.
Maybe I should paint it. Its not like the thing would be hard to frigging paint.
Maybe I'll wrap tape around it and Van Halen the thing.
-
So I'm really in the minority with disliking the duo look :/ I really like the funky small squares :(
I will say this though, I find the Turbo Grafx abhorrant.
-
The TurboGrafx looks tarded.
its the perfect size to fit moronically on a shelf. The cables come out the side which is frigging annoying. Then you click on the Tumor Docking Station and slap the CD system on there and you have a squared off USS Enterprise looking disaster.
Or you shove a turbo booster on and take up as much real estate on a shelf as a frigging VCR. At least that way, the wires come out of the back.
It still sucks though.
They should have just released it exactly like PCE.
Nintendo did similar derpiness with the NES/FC. They said it was because americans were anti-top loading carts because of the crash, and wanted to emulate VCRs or something. I dont know.
I like front loading, but I dont like front loading that involves spring loaded crap, and crossed fingers.
Thats why I love the PCE. BEST DESIGN EVAR!11!12

Knuckles :D
-
Given that limited choice, I'd vote Duo R.
My real favorite is the IFU set-up. It's the coolest console ever.
-
Just incase we need another look at each :D

I think the Sgfx with the doohickey on the end connected to a CDROM is pretty hilariously cool looking.
It looks like a science experiement because of the cable that connects on the RAU

The Black PCE Duo for me. it just looks awesome and it doesn't turn yellow over time

It does too! you just cant tell!
-
Don't like the choices.
1) Sega Master System II
2) Supergrafx + SCD - I pretend it can fly and have it do battle with my Kenner Millennium Falcon when I play Star Wars.
3) Turbo Duo

That's awesome! :D
-
I think the Duo-R is a really beautiful system. The color and the type of plastic used makes it really sleek and gives it a high quality feel. It is perfectly proportioned and looks nice having all the av and power cords coming out the back. The black Duo looks awesome too but once it's all hooked up it looks messy with only one side not having a cord sticking out.
-
While far from my favorite console design, I rather like the look of the TurboGrafx-CD. Far more than the IFU setup. The TG-CD looks all burly and robust, like it means business.
-
If any mod know how to make it a poll, feel free to change it for me. I can't figure it out.
-
The US turbo duo definitely for me. Second would be the PCE IFU setup and turbo grafx cd setup. Supergrafx is by far the ugliest console ever, maybe thats why it didn't take off in Japan. The profile of the supergrafx is similar to the turbo grafx, I wonder if you can attach the turbo grafx cd to it, any body knows?

I believe the turbografx cd is interchangable with the pce cdromrom cause I swear I have seen pic of people using a black tgcd with a pce IFU before so if that's correct then yeah you can hook up a tgcd to a SGX with the cdromrom adapter
-
When I saw pictures of the SGX in EGM bitd I thought it was one of the coolest things my young eyes had ever seen! I still think it's awesome! :)

 Agreed 100%

If you painted it green and turned it backwards I think the TG-CD would look like a Romulan Warbird. :P
-
I just wanted to add that while I love the IFU-30 setup, I think it looks really crappy with a black Coregrafx. You have to go with the original white PCE. Yeah, I realise they sold it with the black Coregrafx, which I never understood. All White is the way to go.
-
Maybe a Turbo CD and a core?
-
You know, I was thinking that same thing (because I was freaked out about yellowing). The interface unit itself is still white though....
Somebody needs to take a picture of that though!
-

A CoreGrafx coloring matches the dark grey and blue lettering on the IFU (linky (http://pressthebuttons.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83452033569e20115721cf30e970b-800wi)), but the Turbo-CD is black.
Here's a few pics from Mike (first one) and Hoobs (second two) showing interchangeability and coloring:

Egads that's ugly! :o I stick to my original statement, all white is the way to go:

Dang. I guess it depends on what you had first and have good memories of. I had my IFU-30 about 2 years before I got my first TG16.
PCE Core & CD-ROM IFU30 combo = sexiest thing ever made by humains hand.
I agree if we're going with the combined consoles.
-
The coregrafx was definitely designed for the IFU set up, both color and shape, but i can understand why so many people like the all white.
Probably my favorite two

The big boys

That would be my setup of choice. But I like all of them.

My IFU-30 after Retr0brighting and full cap/laser replacement.
How could you not love this? It looks like something from Star Wars.

-
The interface briefcase unit. All white, like grahf (and blueraven) has pictured. Closely followed by the DUO-R
-
US Duo
-
 My favorite is the IFU all white!! :D
8) Next would be the white duo-r and duo-rx
:? I think the black Duo looks square and boring.
[-( Tied for last place, because they look really strange to me are....Super-Grafx, US tg16, and the super cd-rom with the core grafx. Also I think the shuttle looks like a toy for a 5 year old. ](*,)
-
I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I don't really get the hate the SGX gets on its looks.
-
Well, i've never been a fan of fake bolt heads, or torx heads, etc. that some electronics has. It ruins the SGX for me.
I do like the Super CD-ROM though, it reminds me of some the Geiger Aliens, with the little mouth coming out of the bigger mouth.
