So after you guys were able to help me with finding some realy good Genesis shooties, I was wondering if you could do the same, but with platformers ?
I usualy prefer the unusual ones. Last one I beat was Dynamite Headdy.
-
Rocket Knight Adventures is fantastic, and it's got it's own little mechanic involving a jetpack.
beyond that, i don't really know off the top of my head, other than Vectorman 1+2

Land of Illusion (best of the three Mickey games)
Sonic 1
Ghouls and Ghosts
and Alex Kidd in Miracle World, of course.
Penguin Land is a good puzzle/platformer
-
Aladdin!
-
Alisia Dragoon. Can't recommend that one enough
-
These are all genesis suggestions.
Kid Chameleon, Chuck Rock 2 (CD game), Ristar, I second the Rocket Knight and Alisia Dragoon.
Also, BlasterMaster 2. f*ck the haters.
-
Jewel Master is nice too. Also El Viento.
-
Rocket Knight is damn good! One of my favorite games on the system.
-
anything with armored possums is a recipe for f*ckYES
-
Tortured Skull is my new hero. Listen to what this man says.
-
I also vote for Rocket Knight: a variety of neat play mechanics such as navigating using your reflection, and a lot of cool, unexpected details like a chicken that follows you for a bit for no reason. Cute animation, too!

Ecco the Dolphin a platform game? Really?
-
There's a platform if you go deep enough!
-
Well, what WOULD ecco be classified as , really?
swimmer? lol
ACTION/SWIMMER!
-
It's an action puzzle game, actually. Similar to Cybernoid.

yeah. its still a bit different. because of the swimming aspect.
Too bad they didnt make more Ecco like games .
Kind also reminds me of Solar Jetman for NES
-
The Haunting isn't really a platformer either.
It's an isometric viewpoint.
Great game though.
-
Contra: Hard Corps
Castlevania Bloodlines
Earthworm Jim
Gunstar Heroes
Mis-Adv. of Flink (CD)
Ranger X
Target Earth
I just looked over my personal collection and I'll add my vote the the above

I highly recommend El Viento (http://www.unlimitedzigworks.com/1964/md-el-viento.html). Great Wolf Team action!

Swimming/Castleroids/Action/Adventure?
Would Ecco be in the same class as a E.V.O (SNES) or NiGHTS on Saturn?
Nights and Ecco actually have lots in common.
