I love this game, I would get it if its on the VC
Why hasn't it been released?? I been playing it on my DS though NitroGrafx
I know it's not the right way to play it...

The chances of that happening are not good. There are licensing obstacles to overcome as the game was made by Quest and not Hudson Soft. Moreover, many Turbografx games have actually dropped off the VC, not to mention Hudson was dissolved by Konami about 8 months ago...

Well, the game was developed by Quest who is now owned by SquareEnix, or at least their intellectual property would be. If they actually own the game is a mystery. Obviously Hudson is now owned by Konami, so if they owned the rights or partial rights, it would be a mess as well. Simply put, it's unlikely to show up on Virtual Console any time soon.

Doesn't really answer your question, but the PC Engine version of this game is a lot more affordable than the TG-16 version and just as good in my opinion.
-
Quest developed the game, but it may be owned by Palsoft or whoever published it.

Yep, tracking down the IP owner could be problematic. I think Micro cabin published the GBC version.

There are rumors that Magical Chase will be available on Wii U's Virtual U Console (VuC) when Nintendo releases the new hardware.
If I recall correctly, the game will cost approximately 19.5 Wii U VuCC (Virtual C Console Cubits) or "cubits" for short.

I thought it was only games by Data East & Irem that dropped off the VC?

Those were the only ones that dropped. However the fact that Konami hasn't been doing much with Hudson properties since the acquisition of them doesn't bode well for future releases.

The Wii is also five years into its product life, which is never a good time to hope for any new releases.

Closing in on 6.

Maybe so for the Turbob VC, which was abandoned more than 2 years ago, but not for all of the VC systems.
-
I don't see this coming to the VC. Nintendo has clearly moved on to focus on the Wii U.
-
and the fact that a lot of folks no longer use their Wiis.
-
I assume it will get posted for about 30 minutes and then it will be realized that they put the game up without actually owning the rights.
Once Magical Chase is pulled from the VC, any Wii that holds the game will be worth $1,000.
-
Well, it's rumored that 3DS EShop will get Turbo Grafx games at some point. And continuity between the Wii and Wii U Virtual Consoles are still up in the air AFAIK. So if Magical Chase were to appear, it would be one one of these consoles.
The rights as DragonMasterDan points out are probably in the hands of Square Enix. But the publishing rights for the original game could be in Konami's hands. I don't even want to get into the later ports.
So it sounds like a legal mess, BUT this is true of other games that did up on VC.
I still think it's unlikely though. The early years of the VC saw it as more of a dumping ground, with lots of games ported regardless of interest. But today, the focus for 3DS and the latter years of Wii seems to be on fewer releases and more well known quantities. I doubt that the VC sales of random Turbo Grafx games are worth the salary of a lawyer or anyone else to round them up at this point, so if it's not obviously owned by Konami I'd say forget it.

Agreed.
Sadly, but yes. (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcdsad.png)

i really wish the games i bought on wii's vc were available for me to download and play on the 3ds. Just nintey's way of getting more money from you. That's one reason i did like the ps3 and psp alot of the psn content worked on both and didnt need to double dip.

I couldn't agree more about the double-dipping. We need a Bill of Consumer Rights that guarantees us continued access to titles, across platforms (and even if hardware becomes obsolete). Pie in the sky? Sure.

Ya i got so excited about my 3ds and such because i had so many wiiware vc games and just assumed they would be transferable. I was wrong =(. Now im just sad at how long and horrible the releases on 3ds vc has been.

You can try a little emulator called "NitroGrafx" using an R4 card.
