Wii Mini does not support WiFi or GameCube games.

No WiFi? Thats just stupid.
-
It's about time they released a smaller redesign, as these frickin' regular Wiis are just huge!

Heheh :D
It looks cool though. Follows the tradition of cut-down Ninty's missing from the last 2 generations.

I think there trying to do the European PSP.

Seriously, does removing it really make the device that much cheaper to produce or is Nintendo planning on removing their online service on the Wii soon?
-
This Time article (http://techland.time.com/2012/11/27/wii-mini-outed-by-nintendo-as-canada-exclusive-wont-connect-to-internet/) criticizes it for not supporting Internet connectivity and losing access to WiiWare, VC, Netflix, etc. The question is does it have USB ports? If it does, I'd hope the USB LAN adapter would still work.

Here's a zoomed out image of it,

Man, the thing looks like a triscuit!
I wonder if they removed SD and USB as well....
-
I would imagine the target audience for this system would be much younger kids. Pre-teens even?
I can get a Wii at a local pawnshop, with all cables and controllers for about $70...
-
Now they release something like this. :P This would have worked fine for my stepmom and dad (70+) who use theirs as a Wii Fit and Sports box.
-
Man, talk about a waste of money in re-design and production costs.
-
canadians don't need internet anyways
-
Canucknet!
It looks pretty neat, at least.
-
It looks nice. how does the disc access work? is it a flip top? If it's cheap enough, I'd buy it for the novelty factor alone.
-
I guess if there is anyone looking to buy a new Wiimote and Nunchuck, you might as well get this. Wiimote is $40 and Nunchuck is $15, so essentially you are getting a Mini Wii for $45.
-
It looks like a throwback to the tent style arcade machines and the Virtua Boy too...
-

You know, I didn't even think of that, but that might be the case. Usually all Cheap-O-Versions of consoles use a flip top.
-
It is a top loader. The Open button is on the lower-right corner and the black portion is the lid.
-
I want this just for the novelty. It will prolly just sit in a box in my game room. Just like my baby blue Wii does.
-
My first thought was, "How do I get one!?". Then I realized how useless the thing is. No Wiiware, VC, Netflix, or Cube compatibility? I assume hacking it will be way harder too.
Not to mention the loss of the slot loader. The Wii has the nicest damn slot loader of any product at triple the price. The PS3 sounds like an industrial grade CD shredder while the Wii version is not only very quiet, and loads 3"s, but also grabs the disc easily without being force fed.
-
I like how it looks, but no excuse for lack of wi-fi.
-
I'm wondering if the internet capability can be added with the USB adapters.
-
Why would it have USB? It's a much less popular feature than Wifi. It's really only useful for hacking.
-
Found this on GameSpot (http://www.gamespot.com/news/wii-mini-lacks-wi-fi-gamecube-support-6400631?tag=Topslot;Today039sGamingHeadlines;WiiMiniLacksWifiGam): the "Wii Mini does not include Wi-Fi support, and according to the retailer, will not be able to connect to the Internet at all or make use of online features in games."
-
The one good thing about it not doing anything but playing games is it will probably never break
-
I like the way it looks, but the lack of WiFi, as everyone has already stated, kills the deal.
However, a decade or two from now, this Wii's hardware will be nice for folks who play "retro games"...
