Anime4ever, AKA Fudoh, is a forum lurker that took an early version of Bonknuts freely-available ISO of the first Megaman PCE port, burned it on high-quality CD-Rs, made some packaging, and is selling it for €49. Not only is his gouging price insane, but he's passing it off as a legitimate PCE release. He neglects to inform his customers that they're paying fifty euro for a CD-R, he doesn't tell them that it's a free homebrew hack, he doesn't tell them that it's not the latest version, and he doesn't credit Bonknuts for doing all of the work.
There are three things you should consider before giving any money to anime4ever:
1) He's a gouger. He originally tried to sell SFZ for $160. $100 or whatever he's charging now is still insane considering these things are CD-Rs.
2) He's a liar. He came around here in 2005 saying he bought a box of Sapphires in Tokyo, feigned ignorance regarding their origin, and put up that "small site" (anime4ever.de) just to sell those few copies. Link (http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=737.msg4215#msg4215). His deception started a years-long debate about all of these new Sapphires floating around. Endless idiots drank the Cool-Aid and argued long and hard that their precious Sapphires that they paid too much money for must surely be from a 2nd printing, not bootlegs. Anime4ever eventually dropped the pretense when he pressed SFZ, expanded his site, and sold a couple spindles of his misprint Sapphires bootlegs to BlueBMW.
3) He's a thief. That Rockman hack was made by Bonknuts. Link (http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=10564.msg212188#msg212188). Fudoh stole it and it's not even the latest version. Obviously, Megaman isn't Bonknuts' IP either, but artists (and anyone with integrity) will usually operate under Creative Commons principles when it comes to things like this - not for profit, attribution, and they usually ask permission.

I never have had the patience to make it to the end (maybe it should be nominated for the weekly gameplay gig) but I used to have a roommate that would play it every night for a long while and got darn close. Those were good times. :)

I picked up a much-needed Tennokoe Bank, but it ended up being a dud unfortunately. Oh well, at least they're pretty cheap... and I have the case and manual now, so it shouldn't be too hard to find a loose one somewhere.

There was a gent here who pried the top off a tennokoe and replaced the battery, that might be all you need to do to bring it back to life. The batteries in all of them are going to die eventually anyway.

I made a $200.00 offer on a $300.00 listing on feebay, and my offer was accepted. I'm not thrilled about paying that much for it, but such is life. At least the guy gave me the shipping free, even though I didn't ask for it. I got the two games together for $210 shipped. And oh! The french version has been over for almost 3 years and is still waiting to be implemented. Sometimes, some people wonder why there are not more translations of PCE games. When you spend 5 years on and off translating a game, and the translation is not implemented, it doesn't help you try and translate any more games.

That's usually the way it goes.
My understanding is that the only way to buy through Amazon Japan is through a proxy service, and since this was my first time to use a proxy service, I wanted to have as few wrinkles as possible. I actually only wanted to get Madou Monogatari and the Anearth Fantasy Stories Mook at first, because they were at the very top of my want list, but when I was browsing through Surugaya's stock, I saw the other 6 which I really had been wanting as well for quite a while, and I went ahead and pulled the trigger.
I'm still rather newbish at buying things internationally outside of eBay and somewhat afraid of being ripped off, so since altogether I think :pray: that I got a decent if average deal, I'll keep my chin up. :-"

Awesome game! Doesn't get enough attention. I think a lot of shooter fans look over it because of the lack of score but it's really awesome and worth figuring out and finishing. The ending is a really nice full vocal track. I uploaded it on YT but try and beat it to hear it for yourself first

I got to the end of the 2nd stage last night and really enjoyed what I played. Some very cool concepts going on in the game and nice intro to set the stage. Yeah score doesn't matter so much to me personally. O:)

Once, as the double-CD case with manual and art book (CDROM was the
white-and-green one), and once as a "MOOK" - a magazine/book with a CDROM
included, fromDengeki MOOK. In Emerald Dragon's case, it was a "capture
guide" book, and I believe the version of the game was a full version
(rather than just a playable demo).

That's pretty cool, I didn't know there was some sort of a connection with these 3 games. The guy in your quote from the TurboList BTW is David Shadoff who has and knows everything when it comes to TG-16/PC Engine (he also helped me with the Ys IV project!). Tucci- you don't have to glue it, but you might want to depending on what version of ever drive you have. It fits the v1.2 well enough that it was hard to pry off with my fingernails, whereas it is easily removed on v.1 cards (but not so easily that it'll fall off the back of your turbo express).

I've been called worse .. today ! And yes, I thought the prices were fair. But need to slow down, gone alittle crazy with my hobby budget lately.

It won't work with it. It only works with Arcade CD titles I'm afraid and maybe a few SCDs (not sure), but definitely doesn't work with that HuCard.
The 6 button controller was originally developped in order to play SF2 ;)
Hm, I just fired up the Ninja Gaiden ROM in the MagicEngine emulator. Somehow I must've just missed it all these years. Looks like it's a straight port of the NES version with enhancements, so maybe something else to mess with when I get my TE. I beat all the NES versions (1-3), so maybe I just didn't think I should bother with it in my serious emulation playing days 10 years back or so.

Look what I bought the other day! You know, the highly coveted Castlevania Dracula X for PC Engine Super CD. I got it off Ebay for $118. I'm excited as can be. I don't have it yet, but looking forward to playing it night and day until the game is beaten. lol.

Can't wait to receive my doujindance Duo-R along with Spriggan, Rondo of Blood and Nexzr (first release). I basically purchased the system for these games (plus GunHed, the Soldier series and Ys Book I & II, which I'll get later on when my finances are straightened out - I also purchased Eliminate Down and Gleylancer this summer - among other things - so I'm a bit tapped out :wink:).
P.S. Alright... two more "impulse" purchases a few minutes ago: Final Soldier and Gunhed (I love both games by the way, having already played them quite a bit on the Wii Virtual Console over the years). "Impulse" is between quotation marks because I swore to myself earlier today (no joke) that I wouldn't be purchasing any more games online until 2015... "FAIL", as they say. Still, 5 down and 6 more to go before I have reached my ideal Turbo/PC Engine collection. (Or so I like to believe.)
I use the original power supply with my RX and it works fine. The difference in voltage isn't enough to worry about.That's what I wanted to hear, thanks guys.

Hey, sorry for my late post. Was quite busy the last couple of weeks.
The IFU doesn´t really "attach" to it. You get 2 pieces of plastic that slide into holes on the ROM2 AMP. They are moulded in a way that you just lay the suitcase on top of it, e.g. there is no "click" or pin pushed in or lock switching.
It is just that simple and at the same time doesn´t look cheap. You can take off the suitcase anytime you want without hitting a button. Plus the ROM2 AMP has an additional power outlet, thru which one could power the whole IFU as well. A maximum of 100W is possible.
Since I live in Europe I bought a switching adapter that outputs 100V from a 230V line, quite cheap (I think I didn´t pay more than 15 Euros for it) also. Stay away from the obvious china fakes - best place is Amazon where I live.

Random question: is it truly not recommended to use the official Japanese PC Engine Duo-R power supply in North America? Doujindance (eBay seller) says one must use another power supply (e.g. X'Eye, Genesis model 2, etc.) for it to be less risky or something. What do you guys use/recommended?

I can't recall...os that a regular baseball game or a simulation/managing sort of game.
Haven't had a chance to actually try it out yet...got some work to catch up on first.
From the screenshots on the back, definitely looks like a regular baseball game (similar to the Power League series -- no fat, pudgy Famista style players) with perhaps some enhancements thrown in for the CD format. Strangely enough, I see no youtube vids of this particular title online.
Either way, I really love baseball games on the PCE, so I'm sure I'll love it.
Been playing a partial season of Intec's baseball game on the PCE CD ROM while waiting for this one to arrive.
Regarding that blue bag in Super Play's post, I was also wondering if it had a specific purpose. Perhaps it's for the PC Engine GT handheld? Or maybe it's one of those Japanese style pen cases (see www.jetpens.com (http://www.jetpens.com/) for similar items)?

Also what baseball game on the CD rom are you reffering to? I've tried a few baseball games on the everdrive. Liked Naxat Stadium and the Power Leagues, but didn't know it went beyond that. For a season, are you able to save or have a password?

If you mean just the white tray, you can get replacements relatively cheap off amazon/ebay/etc.
My most recent PC engine gets were gotzendeiner and hellfire S, however, I cannot play these games right now because my PC engine is getting rgb modded. Want to play it so bad, and see the rgb goodness out of meh DUO R :P

forgot to add Daichi Kun crisis a while ago but just got NHK Taiga Drama Taiheiki. Pretty good strategy turn based war game set in feudal Japan. I might try and do a guide for this as I really do like the graphics. It's mostly in Kanji. Both are very good strategy games in their own right.

The game is divided in two segments and you will eventually guide 14 warlords who each have a part in ruling parts of Japan. But you start at Chihaya fortress and controling Kusunoki Masashige from the time period 1294 1336. Its battles and strategy from the get go in Hex style! Both games do require back up ram as there is much progress to be made in these games.

Just got back from a long 100+ miles drive to trade stuff. It was cheaper to drive than to pack and ship a big Commodore 128D (some mod and JiffyDOS) and an RGB monitor.
What I got back from the trade was CIB TurboExpress, CIB AC adapter, and CIB car adapter. Those boxes are very nice shape, almost like it was just made this year and not 20 years ago. :mrgreen: TE does have sound issue and will need recapping for sure.
I'd post picture but 4 hours driving home while dealing with rush hour traffic that moved at snail pace (why its called rush when it's slow is beyond me) and I am tired. :-&

Snagged it at the Video Game Summit today. They said it was dead, but I got them down to a good price and took a gamble on it. Turned out it just had a bad video connector on the A/V cable!
It's in great condition, and as far as I can tell, it's working 100%. The sound still works fine, but I'll still re-cap it sometime soon.

I was looking for this thread earlier, since this disc/magazine was not purchased.
So my homie David Shadoff was kind enough to donate (in the name of CD science!) an extra copy of a magazine, the "Super PC Engine Fan Deluxe - Vol.1." Photos below. :)
Inside, there is a pack-in PC-FX CD on a cardboard page of what I wanted, and on the back side, there's another CD, the "Develo Magazine Vol. 1" that contains demos for Popful Mail, Fray CD Xak Gaiden and Assembly/Basic-developed games, along with development tools, etc.
I just wanted the Special PC-FX CD bonus because its CD structure is unique in that it uses 5 or so indexes on data track #5 and I want to study/work with it to implement/perfect TurboRip's lacking track analysis phase, but he decided to throw in the whole magazine which, hey, is a cool PCE time warp to boot!
Before this, I asked SamIAm to see if he could find the CD in Japan which was silly to do first because David had originally discovered the uniqueness of this CD's indexing and gave me a CloneCD image long time ago, plus sometimes he winds up with duplicates, so I asked him next and turned out he did indeed have an extra he was willing to part with, so that's how I wound up with it!!!

Funny enough, in an older edit, I specified it's a Super PC Engine CDROM^2, but I tried to trim my content later and space it out better. :) Evidently it was meant for continued tinkering/development, late as it was released at the end of the PC Engine's lifespan, but yeah, it's a PCECD.

I won a copy of Xanadu 2 for $2 and it arrived. I will now follow the translation thread with heightened interest.
I've only moved around a few opening maps (no boss fights yet), and it's ok. Doesn't feel as polished as Ys.

How so? You mean M. Bison being Vega, Vega being Balrog and Balrog being M. Bison? If so, that's the standard Japanese names for the characters...if not, I've never noticed anything wrong (admittedly I haven't played it too much)?

Yeah, that is what I meant. Had no idea about the naming differences in Japan!
And anyway, Vega doesn't look much like a Balrog, nor does M. Bison seem to fit the name Vega, which has a Spanish tinge to it. We got the better names, imo.

We are in the minority, but, yes, I would love to know more about the artists (and the process for creating the art, relationship with/direction from NEC) and I would LOVE to have original prints (or reproductions).

It mighta been Goof off, I have to check it again. I thought it was just lighter fluid basically.. anyway, no big deal, I had removed the plastic case cover separately, it wasn't in that great of condition to begin with. The manual, cd, insert, etc. were nowhere nearby and are safe. Just gonna replace it with a generic jewel case cover.
Goo Gone is like my secret weapon. Slap that shit on everything. I just scrubbed my whole copy of Rule of Rose (PS2) with it, was a previous rental. Does a good job of getting label residue off paper without taking the ink with it. Looks a lot better now.

I didn't know much about this one, but I watched a video and it looks pretty cool. I love games where you program the actions ahead of time like this, at least that's what I think you do. The guy in the video had no clue how to play it.

Yup. Jim Cummings is a big one for me. He's done so many voices for Disney it's not even funny. He was Darkwing Duck, and is currently the voice of Pete, Winnie the Pooh, and lord knows how many others. I can't hear Dalles without it sounding like Pete to me.
Sure these aren't PC-Engine games, but I don't think we have a Turbo-only related topic, and if we do it must be buried. Anyways, got these from some awesome members here :D

Got Skweek and Götzendiener in the mail today. Götzendiener is a bit awkward to play but I like the look of it quite a bit and find it strangely compelling. Skweek is fun but became a little tiresome after not very long.

Got Rainbow Islands and Fray Xak Gaiden in the mail today. Lost at least 2 and a half hours to Rainbow Islands, the game is so frustrating for me but I can't stop playing it. Fray is OK, I think with this one I liked the look and idea of it more than anything though. Even if the game was in English everything would still seem way too drawn out; I've only gotten to the second boss and I almost feel like I've spent more time sitting through dialog and scrolling through text than I have actually playing anything.
There is a certain section in Fray that I found so frustrating that I just put the disc away in a drawer away from sunlight... Maybe I am just crap at it but there is a level where a sage splits the lake apart and you get bumped into the bottom of the sea.. A section where you have to jump on falling logs.. That is really pissing me off..

I can play using Terry and Ryo in these games and that's pretty much it. I played a lot of KOF 95 on the Saturn and Match of the Millennium on NGPC, but all of the other titles I've only played a little bit of. So I feel ya on not being great at fighting games, but even still every now and then I like to pick one up. For me, I get bored long before the point you'd need to play to get really good at one. Kabuki Ittoryoudan seems like a pretty good PCE exclusive if you like fighting games, I'd like to get that one myself to complete my PCE Tengai Makyou collection.

Today I reached 116 games in my "collection." The latest additions to the FAMILY are two western games released in Japan only: Lemmings (Sunsoft) and Builderland (Microworld). Both coming complete with spine cards.
Just got an Arcade Card Pro. This way I'll be able to get my old CD-ROM2 Interface unit back in full order and ready to play all games. Now I just need a System Card 1.0 in order to play Altered Beast CD. :D

But, sadly, even satellites of love fail to provide more than 3% of the fun vs. a proper 2-player co-op.
SOLUTION:
When playing Turbo Forgotten Worlds, simply pretend you are at the arcade with a friend, but, unfortunately, your friend has already RUN OUT OF QUARTERS.

unfortunately you DO need quite a bit of japanese know how to get through this... Unless someone finishes translating this then the SEGA CD might be the way to go unless you can also get the MSX versions...

To be honest, it pains me greatly that the Sega CD version exists. It is the sole reason people are demotivated from translating the PCE version, which in my opinion, is probably one of the best/pure versions of the game out there.

Play Spriggan asap, it does not disappoint. :DPlayed it a little this morning, it's great! The power ups were confusing at first but pretty unique once you get the hang of it.

Both, I guess. They're much less common than controllers with turboswitches, as every 'normal' (not a mouse, illustbooster, or pachinko) controller later produced had turbos; but it's just an oddity, not something that makes any difference in game play and a must have.

PC Genjin 3 Sample is just the exact same thing.
Bomberman Users Battle is quite interesting : the title screen is different and there are only two modes :
- Users Battle 1 (which is the normal multiplayer mode)
- Users Battle 2 (which is the multiplayer mode with the "skull" bonuses).
Haven't tried PC Genjin 3 Yaikenban though.
So, for the sample, does it appear to be standard commercial release, but with sticker affixed? Like, for trade shows/journalists/promotional events?
