I actually play very few two player games, maybe Bomberman from time to time, Although people moan about the single controller port i actually love its arrogance it ads the the persona of this beautiful machine and lets face it most of the good games are best enjoyed alone.
-
Parasol Stars is fantastic. You can even throw your friend!
-
PC Genjin 3
Bomberman 93, 94
-
Monster Lair is fun with anyone, even if they don't play video games often.
There are multiplayer game threads. I think a big one was about games that support more than two players.
-
Aero Blasters - fantastic game, but unless both people are decent at shoot-em-ups, it will be frustrating. You share a limited number of "continues", which helps newbies/non-skilled players...
SPECIAL MEGA-BLAST BEAM IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN 2-PLAYER MODE (petty easy to use, too). (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)
Thankfully, Black_Tiger mentioned Monster Lair...

Monster Lair is EXCELLENT 2-player.
Listen to Black_Tiger, folks!(http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcds.png)

Pff. 2 players.
Dungeon Explorer with 5 players is the best reason to have friends.
-
I agree w/ many of the games mentioned, but one of the best strictly 2 player games is Cadash.
Bomberman, Motoroader, etc. are all good games, but many of them get better with MORE than 2 players. Cadash is straight up 2player perfection.

Heck yes. And then grab DEII CD sequel for more splendid fun. (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)

Can't argue with you. Cadash (Hashish on PCE) is addictive and stimulating.

In addition to the other fine suggestions: Don Doko Don, Revival Chase, Godzilla, Kabuki Itouryodan, and any other vs. fighter that tickles your fancy.
-
Splashlake..... (drops mic)
-
damn! more games than i thought existed.
-
A few more: Double Dungeons, Magicoal, 1943 (unlimited continues for crappy shewty players), Double Dragon II, Faceball, and Motteke Tamago.
-
My faves go

Puyo Puyo 1 & 2 is often forgotten

Ha! Totally. I don't think I have both of them; I haven't played it in ages.
CONFESSION: I never played Ordyne in 2-player mode!! I haven't really spent much time with this game. I didn't get it until much later (late 90's?). I'm curious about it, though.

Lucretia. ;)

Aero Blasters is not only 2 player, but when two people are playing there are 2-player only attacks. If both players charge the screen flash ability and release at the exact same time it becomes incredibly powerful. If both players are charged, they can alternately hit the attack button at the same time to cause energy to blast between the two ships that does major damage to anything between them. It adds so much to the game to play it that way, because then you start to look for opportunities to use the cool new abilities, even when they probably wouldn't help.

I referred to this as the SPECIAL MEGA BLAST in my post. (http://junk.tg-16.com/images/pcgs.png)

Detana Twin Bee has something similar to this (One player pushes down on the other player's ship for a powerful 3 way shot attack), not quite the same though.

So does Shockman/Shubinbinman... I'm trying to remember if Shubinbinman 1 and 3 has it but in Shockman both players setup a charge shot, one player shoots the other with their charge shot. That player absorbs the charget shot and lets go of their own charge shot to get a spread charge shot.

Nulltity and I had a blast playing through Hellfire S not too long ago. Granted, we didn't beat the game, but I think we got farther that I've been able to get in single player mode.
Sapphire and Cadash were also fun to play (though the grinding in Cadash was no bueno).
-
I think I owned a turbo tap, but I didn't get a duo tap once I upgraded. I definitely played way more single player games, but Dungeon Explorer comes to mind, along with Bomberman. Was Military Madness any fun with two people?
-

-

I agree with dungeon explorer. My brother and and I played it all the time. We also like world court tennis.

Good tennis games are always even better with another person. Alas, the life of a forever-alone gamer makes that hard sometimes. :(
-
Double Dragon II for the automatic win!!! :D
-
Salamander performs very well in 2-player mode. It enables instant respawn and it helps to gain more continues throughout the game, so your chances of beating it are improved.
-
Bonanza Brothers is far and away my favorite 2 player game. Really, check it out if you havent already. The graphics and music are meh, but the game play is great. Lots of strategy and action. Plays great with beer.
-
Great call on your favs geise !! I'm definitely gonna go with your picks and I'm gonna add Street Fighter 2 to that list ...
-
i have a lot of fun playing tennis, one on one is entertaining and takes a lot of my time on friday nights lol
-
it was kinda of ahead of its time, back then it was all about playing with friends in co-op and they pushed the single player fun but now its opposite....which the turbo has the single player games on lock with the platformers and shooters ya know
