Hi everyone,
So now that the Analogue Duo has been announced, is anyone worried that using a slot loading drive has the potential to damage your CDs compared to traditional tray loading CD-ROM drives? I know older slot loading drives use rollers to pull in CDs, but I'm told newer drives are less "physical" when handling disks? Should we be weary of using rare CD-ROM games on the Analogue Duo?

I don't know about the CD mech on the forthcoming Analog nor do i have a need for one, but couldn't one burn their own discs to use on it? Then you could monitor of any wear and tear on the cd-r and if it does botch it up, you're only out a few pennies.

I'd rather it were flip up like a real Duo (simple and reliable) but I'm hoping there's a way to just play ISOs and leave the discs on the shelf. Like majors says, I'd probably use CDRs at first and monitor for wear.

Well modern slot-loaders seem to handle the disk significanlly less:

Mostly around the edges. But I'm also told that the Anaogue Duo does not have an emergency eject button in case anything gets stuck. So ether they were being too cheap, or these drives don't have a way to manually eject disks? <shrugs>
