Title: PCEngine LD-Rom2 games
Post by: Kung-Fu Monkey on June 02, 2004, 07:16:57 AM
Hello all.

Just wondering if anyone knows anything at all about the Laserdisk games that were released for the PCE?

They were only useable on the Pioneer LaserActive unit. See here for more details:
http://www.computercloset.org/PioneerLaseractive.htm

Seems there were MegaLD and LD-Rom2 games. Never new this. I think there's 22 MegaLD games, and about 3 PCE LD-Rom2 games, but I don't know what the games are or anything.

Anyone?

I remember there was some kind of FMV shooter for the PCE LA module.

Wow, I can actually contribute here. I have both modules (well 3 if you count the karaoke module) for the LaserActive.
I have the US versions of the hardware, though the LD's themselves are not region encoded (like PCE cds). I us my LA system as my main Turbo system to play my PCE games, the shape of the system calls for a different convertor for the sustem cards (the "big green diving board").

There were only 3 games released for the US version
Vajra (the fmv shooter described above)
Quiz Econosaurus (ecological/educational game from Hudson)
Manhattan Requiem (JB Harold: Murder Club sequel)

Of course many more were released overseas, many games were released on both the PCE LD and the Sega Megadrive LD. Finding JB Harold: Blue chicago blues for the LDROM2 would be great! As would many of the animated LD games like Time Gal.

There were 13 (i think, i can check if any1cares) total US Sega LD games, with MAYBE 5 total games worth owning.

Going thru Blue Chicago Blues right now (sega version), if any1 needs any more info keep this thread alive!
