Or did some YT personality talk about it and drive up the price?>

Some YT ass hat more than likely. It was not a scarce game.

Just had some stuff come in a bit ago.  I bought it from the LRG Vault initial release sale.

Astro City Mini and the Game Center Style Kit, were pretty cheap for US versions.

Also picked up Neonwall, a PS4 PSVR game I skipped.  I've been trying to grab those titles now since I think if they aren't ported many of them are going to be harder to get later on. Thought the shipping was pretty rough though, it was like $30 to get all this shipped and they used Parcel Select.  Must be needing to pad their margins to pay back Embracer after the acquisition. 😄

Liquid Kids is an incredibly beautiful game on the Engine but I was never into Bubble Bobble or its ilk.

Preach it brother. Liquid is on my short list of games I want, but current market pricing deters me. Luckly, we have alternate means of enjoying some classic Taito! I've played bit of it before in my past, but never got too far...now I have the encouragement from the forum to devote some time into it. Thanks geise.

<sidenote: with the current price around $150 for a CIB copy, does anyone have an insight as to its increased interest? I understand it's a good game, but so is R-type. Was it a late release or have someone involved with creating it that is famous? Or did some YT personality talk about it and drive up the price?>

I'm still trying to track the information down, but I do recall an egm that went into detail about a variety of license properties becoming games in the North American Market. I recall Total Recall, Alien versus Predator, Die Hard, among other things. But since I was several decades ago, there's probably some that I'm incorrect on.

Die Hard was likely referring to the game that was released in Japan by Pack-In-Video. Total Recall, on the other hand does have a small blurb that you can find on games that weren't.com that may or may not be specifically talking about a game for the tg16. There's been no more information since then on that one.

Here's the link for Total Recall along with the canceled Paradroid 90. https://www.gamesthatwerent.com/2020/08/paradroid-90-and-total-recall-graftgold/

PC Engine/SuperGrafx Discussion / Re: PCE on a mini B&W TV

Heh, that's pretty neat.  It reminds me of when I was a little robot, playing 2600 on a 13" (or thereabouts) B&W set.

PC Engine/SuperGrafx Discussion / PCE on a mini B&W TV
« Last post by HuDuo on March 04, 2025, 11:36:54 PM »

Some months ago I got one of these cheapo 5? portable Black & White CRT TVs, it has AV ports on the back. This TV has been amazingly useful for many things, including the built in antenna. I?ve become so devoted to this B&W TV thing, I made an S-Video to monochrome composite adapter. It?s just the luminance signal from S-Video, as an RCA connector. It means there?s no dot crawl or checkerboarding on the screen, artifacts caused by the color signal.

I have a TurboNanza equipped PC Engine, which can output S-Video, so I just run that through my S-Video to colorless composite adapter and now I have PCE games in very pretty monochrome on an actual B&W TV.

Why did I do this? Because I could. Also I like B&W TVs, it?s so cool looking at a TV without a shadow mask.

I only ever heard of this game because of a friend of mine loved it. It's an alright game, or at least I thought that before trying out many more platformers for PC Engine. Some like Energy gave me a new perspective, even dumpy old Keith Courage in Alpha Zones is an amazingly well polished game compared to a lot of other lower end platformers of the day. Liquid Kids has that big step up in quality and polish too.

Is it as good as Mario or Sonic? No but it's nice to play if you enjoy Bubble Bobble.
