Well if the new Mario game actually turns out good instead of a major disappointment like nearly every Nintendo made game of the last 5 years, then I'll get a Wii.  I used to really like Nintendo back in the 90s, it wasn't until the Gamecube and how ultimate shitty its Mario and Zelda were that I started to really hate them (well along with connectivity, farming Mario out to 4 billion other companies, pasting Mario characters into every type of game known to man, refusing to accept HD as the future, etc).
I have high hopes for the new Mario and from what I've heard about the demo at the E3, it's going to be outstanding. I'm also really looking forward to Super Smash Bros, Metroid, Dragon Quest: Swords, Super Paper Mario, Wing Island, Kororinpa, Batallion Wars 2, and Bleach.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

Regardless, there should be an option to control the Wii game with the damned nunchuck or a Gamecube controller.  I would enjoy it 50 times more.

That's the one thing that pisses me off about the DS, when games don't give you an option to use the control pad and force you to use the stupid stylus.  Some potentially cool games have been completely ruined for me because of that, I just can't handle using the stylus unless its for something that couldn't be done with a control pad (like Elite Beat Agents).  It sucks the Wii is following the same route and not giving you obvious control options that would take them all of a day to program in.

Both DS and Wii games should offer regular pad controls. Thankfully, many DS ports of regular games do. But Metal Slug Wii should let you play the games the way they were meant to be played.

It does as far as I know, you can hook up a Gamecube controller or play it with the Wiimote in a more traditional way.

I thought that you still had to flick the nunchuck or something for grenades.

I guess I'll rent it to see if it does have some kind of regular control and if it does 480p. If it has both I'm buying it.  :)

Yeah you do have to flick the Wiimote the throw gernades for the more traditional mode, but that ain't too bad I guess. I would just stick to using a Gamecube pad.
