Game & Watch(es) :)
« on: May 18, 2013, 05:25:14 PM »
Made some pics of my G&W collection.
I know it's not really much, just wanted to take some pics and they're also quite photogenic :)

Please post some pics if you also have some G&Wes somewhere in your stack of games and consoles  :)

Great pics, Tats!

I've never seen, no less played ANY Game and Watch (and by all means I should have).  So I have no pictures to add.

I have the Donkey Kong Jr. one, got it as a kid.  I have it stored away somewhere in my house.  When I find it, I'll try to remember to take pics.  Wish I had bought more as a kid, but, I was at the mercy of my parents love & money, so... :D  A friend of mine had the Super Mario Bros. one with the light blue frame.  Who knows whatever happened to it.  It probably got trashed & is in some landfill somewhere.

Game and watch systems are awesome, I have a mini collection myself and I really enjoy them.

I specifically remember going to NYC and China Town when I was a kid and seeing a lot of these for sale.  I remember not getting any and being sad, so now I have picked some up and relived my lost youth, lol.

You need to get a few of the panorama G&W units, the tech if really damn cool for the time, they are my favorite.  Snoopy and Popeye are usually pretty cheap.

Nice collection!  I totally forgot about Green House since I had it when I was a kid and I haven't seen mine in years.  Not sure where it went.

PHOTOGENIC: Tats, I couldn't agree more...these little machines are photogenic. Forget about the industrial design of the G&W itself, even the text/imagery/logos are laid out with care.

ON THE "MULTI-SCREEN" G&W's: Such a great, practical design. So elegant. To think that it would take three decades for this design to be updated for a modern handheld (by the same company, no less) is...well, it's sad!

RAIN SHOWER: I have never played this, and it intrigues me because the screens are in a horizontal layout...how many other G&W's have this horizontal layout? I have mostly played the single-screen G&W's, decades ago, and I can't remember playing anything like Rain Shower.

OBLIGATORY MENTION: G&W's were expensive and I never owned one as a kid, but you KNOW I LOVED THE CHEAPER ALTERNATIVES because that's what folks gave me on my birthday/xmas.  Pole Position Clone in a cute red plastic case? YUP! Generic Horizontal Shoot-em-up (with 3 game variations!) in a CALCULATOR+GAME COMBO*? YUP! Mechanical Wind-up Handhelds that were actually pretty fun, if limited? YUP!

And, finally, did I drool incessantly over what everyone else had? YUP!

SO DON'T TORMENT ME WITH YOUR G&W's, TATS!

SEND ME YOUR LEAST FAVORITE. I'll pay for shipping.

Thank you, Tats. I appreciate your kindness.

*Game-N-Calc? I made a thread or two over the years about it. Casio? I think...

Great pics tats. I've never played one before and have only seen a couple for sale, usually behind a glass case. I never really liked lcd games back in the day but would like to give one of these a try someday. Which is your favorite to play and which is your favorite overall?

@all, thx to all pour les fleurs

@clash, yeah. unfortunatelly they are bit pricey over here as almost anything G&W related. but there is a snoopy loose for about 60 bucks in one shop nearby. I might snatch that one day.  also had the popeye table top in the past. they sell now for pure gold :(

@esty, thanx a lot for all your comments and rich (funny) input etc. but sorry dear mate, they're not for sale atm

@ela, get green house (the green above) as your first G&W. it is an awesome game, very adictive and really has some deepness in it. orig. donkey kong (the orange above) is also very good

some of them tend to be kinda dull and tedious. those two above do certainly not fall into this category ^^
