Mega Drive Metal Fangs
« on: September 29, 2013, 08:53:24 AM »
I can't find any info about this game barring a few youtube videos.  It seems to be Japan-only, and while I'm not too crazy about the top-down racing genre, the music & atmosphere are right up my ally.  Anyone here play it?  Is it worth importing?

I never heard of the game, so I am intrigued. Hopefully someone here has actual experience with it.

Nice artwork on the character portaits! The game otherwise looks kinda meh to me , though. RC pro-am is the only top-down racer that I've enjoyed, i think.

RC PRO AM = awesome, plus it was more of an isometric perspective (which made it far more interesting, aesthetically, than a purely top-down racer (I feel it reduced the "too-close-to-edge-of-screen issue that many top-down racers struggle with).

MotoRoader is a kindred spirit to Metal Fangs with its futuristic setting, but the game itself also screams "F1 racer" ...

Sadly, my connection was bad and the video downgraded to a blur after a few minutes...I'll have to watch the video again to get a better idea of the strategy involved...

The music in Metal Fangs seems better than the tunes from The Legend of Dobokonokoloco...Legend would have been better with cyber-pop-musicians.

I definitely understand that.  The only racers I really enjoy are usually the into-the-screen ones.  I just really like the vibe in this game, and the vehicular combat looks like it could be fun.  Metal Fangs sort of reminds me of Herzog Zwei, only with racing instead of mechs.

And Este, I'm not familiar with Legend of...um...that.  Care to enlighten me?

The only stuff I know about Metal Fangs is that a lot of the portraits looks suspiciously like a lot of well know music artists.

I'd love to see that article updated to find a match for all the portraits.

Psygnosis did the same thing with the portraits in Nitro on the ST and Amiga.
