Be sure to import the badass Macross game for it.

It's one hell of a game.

Do you need to speak moonrunes?

It's mainly an RPG, so I'd say yes. Or you'd at least benefit from understanding what's going on.

I thought about getting this game, since it was recommended to me occasionally here and there. But the RPG aspect put me off, as well as the ebay/amazon price tag of around US$ 30 to 40 for a game that should be pretty commonly available in Japan. Even used they aren't that much cheaper.
And at last, I don't care for any Macross storyline that came after Macross II, but that may just my own opinion. As well as my personal view on the  Macross universe will be eternally bonded with Mikimoto's classic 80s character designs.

Not really, just have a guide handy. Its really one of the best Macross games that have came out in recent years. I wish it was released here in the U.S. though..

I highly suggest Ben10 Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction, and Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL. These are the best games on the system.

Don't play "open world" style games on PS3, particularly Bethesda games.

I already have those games on the 360, but why not play them on PS3?  Are they that buggy?

They were designed with Xbox 360 specs in mind, particularly RAM. Xbox has 512 unified RAM, PS3 has 256 video RAM, 256 system RAM.

And yes, they are that buggy.

Just catching up on this thread - Bernie, in my experience, those open world games played just fine.  However, if RPGs are your thing you may not have enough time to see them all ;)

Here are some of my PS3 favs that still stand out in my memory:

RPG
3D Dot Game Heroes
Dragon Age: Origins
Elder Scrolls 4 or 5
Eternal Sonata
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
South Park: Stick of Truth
Star Ocean: Last Hope International
Valkyria Chronicles

Action
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 1 or 2
Darksiders 1 or 2
Dead Space 1, 2 or 3
Fallout 3
God of War 3
L.A. Noire
Last of Us
Red Dead Redemption
Resident Evil 5
Saints Row 3 or 4
Uncharted 1, 2 or 3

Puzzle/Thinker
Beyond: Two Souls
Catherine
Heavy Rain
Portal 2

2D/Platformer/Retro
LittleBigPlanet 1 or 2
Midway Arcade Origins
Rayman Origins (Legends is even better, not sure if it got a PS3 release)
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

If I had to pick one game from the entire PS3 library that you ZOMG MUST PLAY, I'd go with Ni no Kuni.  It's magical.  I loved it.  And lucky for us, a sequel was just announced to be in the works :)

If you never played them on the ps2 get the ICO/Shadow of the Colossus remake for ps3.  I also second Ni No Kuni.

So, I picked up Wrath of the White Witch, and I love it!  Also, I ordered Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD remasters, so I am pretty excited to finally play that.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks!!!

Great news Bernie!  I really loved that game.  There's just something special about it.  Good JRPG's are few and far between these days (on consoles anyways)...

I picked up a few titles, but by far the one getting most my attention is Final Fantasy X HD remaster.  Such beauty..... and its nice they used the International Editions with it.  Also grabbed The Last of Us.... but after seeing his daughter get shot in the very beginning...not so sure I can play that one now.  :(

When I bought my PS4 it came with "The Last of US".

I don't consider this type of game really a game. It's more of an animated follow the path game. You make a wrong choice or take to long to move to a certain area and your dead. It's like that 1883 game that came out for the PS4. It was just an animated movie telling you when to hit triangle or square and if you didn't do it fast enough you died.

I just can't get into those types of games. Imo, a must buy for the PS3 is Demon Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2. I bought a PS3 one year after it's release I think, it's the medium size version of the console. I bought a small handfull of games for it when I did and Demons Souls was in that grouping. I didn't even know what Demons Souls was. It ended up being the only game I played on the system for almost 2yrs. Then Dark Souls came out and well...

I like building my character, leveling, designing builds to accomplish specific things etc. The best part is, Demons Souls is cheap, on PSN for like $10. Dark Souls 2 the PS3 really starts showing it's age with the slowdown and blurry graphics but it still plays and is a very enjoyable game.
