whats annoying most is the OVER retroing to the point where its corny instead of classy.

like pixely stuff on high res backgrounds, or NES sounding music in a game that it clearly doesn't fit in....

Nec, that looks like a cool game to me! I notice also that the text is very hiragana heavy, as it was on the Famicom.
