Trizeal is garbage

Another mans garbage is another mans treasure.  I like the game quite a bit.  It's just like a 16-bit shooter.  It's good if you're tired of all the crazy bullet hell shooters.  I am in total agreement on Under Defeat.  I didn't list UD since quite a few already have.

Just picked up Ikaruga from a US seller for $50. Not too shabby IMO.

Regarding Trizeal:

Now that I think about it...I've never played this game! Whoops. Sorry! The one I was thinking of what Chaos Field and that is most certainly garbage. Way too f*cking abstract and complicated for its own good.

I remember reading an article about Trizeal. The dude had to lay off everyone but himself after the Naomi release so he ported it to DC by himself. He even made the manual. That is some real shit right there.

Yeah I ordered my DC copy of Trizeal straight from him.  Regarding Chaos Field that is a game I never liked.  It's not terrible, but you hit all the points as to why I don't care for it.

Chaos Field, Radilgy, and Karous are on Ultimate Shooting Collection for the Wii.  That runs about $20, and they're in English, so importing those for the Dreamcast is overkill.  Trizeal has a (Japanese) PS2 port that costs a lot less.  Ikaruga was on the Gamecube in English and is hard to find and expensive, but nowhere near as hard to find or as expensive as the DC version.  I believe Border Down and Under Defeat are actually Dreamcast exclusives.

Shenmue II was on the original Xbox, but the Xbox version is dubbed, and you can't port your Shenmue 1 save (although porting it for the DC takes some trickery--editing the save file to add the European flag is easy, but getting it off and onto the DC is hard.  Too bad nobody has written a homebrew disk to modify the save file in place.)

Actually, they have. I can't remember what its called but I remember it coming out. I mentioned it on one of the earlier episodes of Game Face Radio, but that was a long-ass time ago. I don't remember the details.

I did it by hand by emailing the save to myself back when I still had a dial-up ISP. The easiest way to do it now is probably to just buy an EU copy of Shenmue 1 and beat it again. :)

Man, the english voice acting is really pretty ho-hum. But I guess the NTSC-version was dubbed as well, huh.

Yup, that's Ikaruga. One of the best ass-kicking shmups ever. Keeping track of the polarity of your ship and the enemies can be tough, but play it enough and it'll become second nature.

The Dreamcast is the greatest SEGA console, ever.

Pick up Yu Suzuki GameWorks Volume 1. Contains arcade versions of Space Harrier, Afterburner II, Outrun, Hang On, and Power Drift.

GameWorks is on my wish list just so I can finally play Power Drift. PD contains my favorite arcade soundtrack of all time. I'd shell out for the cheaper Saturn version but that port isn't arcade perfect. I am after the "true" arcade listening experience. :)

Joe says the Gameworks Vol 1 collection isn't arcade perfect either, but I honestly can't tell a difference. That said, I don't own Space Harrier, Outrun, Hang On, Afterburner II, or Power Drift cabinets in my home to actually compare, so I have to rely on memory.

Perfect or not, they're pretty damn close.

From what I have heard on YT vids the musics in Power Drift DC were identical to the arcade version. Of course, I would have to play it myself to really know.
