He's referring to Extra Mode.  Though the Extra Mode in the MD version is a far cry from the real Extra Version Arcade game.  It got a perfect port to the Towns/Marty though.

It's this weird mode where the music and enemies are replaced with songs and sprites from Darius. Pretty neat but I usually just play it in regular mode. It defaults to this Extra mode for some reason though.

EXTRA Version plays the rearranges the islands, putting the Darius Island as the first.  The original first island comes up later in the game.  The main thing with Extra is that it's extremely hard.

Too bad indeed.............In another universe, this forum is 100% dedicated to FM towns, and the Atar Wii was made instead of the
upgrade for the AGCube

Oh, OK for some reason I thought the whole game was with the Darius enemies and such. I guess I never bothered to play that mode beyond a few levels and stuck with the regular mode.
