I haven't played it, but there's a guy on yt that has a series called "Bullet Heaven" and he covered Akai Katana a couple of months ago:

It's awesome. The "Katana" system has that "Yeah! Now that is firepower" that Cave is good for, like when you get massive coins on Bug Bitch...er Mushi and it slows down just a bit when your collecting them.

It's a US released Cave shmup...you HAVE TO buy it just to encourage Rising Star to release more.

Yes.  His videos are very well made and entertaining.  You can tell he loves him some shooters.

I picked up a US 360 today and Akai Katana. Its pretty awesome so far.

Mod the 360 then all games will be region free, I hate the whole game region thing, but I know why it is done.

^ yeah its pretty annoying. So i have been playing alot of Akai Katana. It has some pretty awesome game mechanics. Def will take a long time to master this game

A little amendment: DDP Resurrection isn't completely region free, it doesn't work in a Japanese 360.

Espgaluda 2 platinum is region free.

I have both a US and a Japanese 360, and all (I think?) of the Cave games.

To be clear here, you need to jtag your 360 to be region free<?>. Firmware mods (flashing) only allow you to play bootleg/burns, it does not bypass region. Unless I'm behind the scene and there had been a break through.

Most folks I know that wanted to enjoy both worlds, got a JP Jasper 360 to play imports and kept it un-touched. Then picked up a used US 360 to flash (read: disposable) for burns and domestic releases.
