Arjak's Tower of Druaga Fangame

(1/2) > >>

Arjak:
I mean to kill you all!

-Guybrush Threepwood, Secret of Monkey Island

Yes, it's true. I'm planning on making my own version of Tower of Druaga. It will be based on the arcade version, but will feature new levels and treasure solutions. Since there was a port of the original game to the PC Engine, I'm assuming that it will be alright to have this thread here.

Now, it will be a while before there's anything playable, this first post is more of a letter of intent, really, but I am currently learning how to program with SDL graphics in C++ and this will (hopefully) be my first full game with it.

So far, all I've programmed is seen in that screenshot above, but I am learning quickly and hope to have something more exciting to show you in the near future.

Until then...

Good luck, comrade. Godspeed.

I loved this game.  Haven't beaten the final boss yet though.

Would you believe the game shown above is built to run for HTML5 and Javascript ?? It can run in the browser or as a traditional standalone app. An old friend from my RIGG days just showed it to me. He's got a partner working on it with him as well and they hope to eventually sell it so it's a serious enough effort. Anyway, these days you don't need to know a lot of programming anymore to develop a game. I think that's your better bet, those game-maker applications instead of trying to learn something like C++, Arjak...

The one in this case that he used is called "Construct 2".

BTW, he says you could do Druaga in days using this app. And, uh, he agreed with me, "f*ck C++! Unless he's doing 3D..." :P
