I agree, f*ck yeah saturn. Growing up and chasing the dragon of final fantasy tactics I loved Mystaria and Shining Force III (never bought it though, so I don't own that beast of a game).

I also loved action RPGs so you can add legend of oasis and shining wisdom to that list. Wisdom was weak, but still a lot of fun.

And I really enjoyed albert odyssey too - I thought it was awesome.

Galactic Attack was one of the only 32 bit shooters I had for a long time, and grew a great fondness for it.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would think that the saturn is weak, even when limiting it to exclusives and not ports - but ports included it's leagues better than the contemporaries aside from ps1. Was n64 better? really? or 3do? wait.. isn't jaguar in this same era? come on, be realistic.

If you like resident evil games get Deep Fear on saturn.   Came out in Europe and Japan but there is a NTSC prototype that runs great on a US system.  I have always liked this game because it reminds me of the movie the Abyss.  The voice acting is super bad and overall a good RE clone.

yes, saturn games have gone nuts. My last 3 times to japan, the shelves have practically been bare. there's just no product left in the country. I have generally gotten good deals across the years, and never got rid of much, but everything is going for crazy amounts. I wanted to get Powerslave a bit ago, and I saw it for $60 on amazon and thought, "eh, do I want it that badly?" Well, now it's $300.

Saturn and PC Engine are both rising to astranomical prices, probably due to the fact they weren't that popular, and have gotten discovered by collectors in the last 5 years.

The key is to buy stuff because it is good and not because everyone else is buying it.  There is also a sweet spot when a system is no longer the new thing, but isn't nostalgic yet.

I loved Saturn since my rich friend got one for Christmas at launch.  I finally got mine two years after him and I picked up a game or two every month for a decade, mostly everything dirt cheap.  I actually played Sonic R yesterday and out of the game came a EB receipt for $6 brand new, August 22, 1999.

Only a couple games I've had to pay even close to MSRP + Inflation for my nostalgic tickles, and the ones that are higher than that then boo hoo I have to play a backup/emulated version if I really want to play it.

I do think often there are just so many games it's hard to you are missing a current game you might enjoy, so by the time you find out about it it's already expensive.

What I'm collecting now: CD. Audio CD. It's a scene of almost no $$$ worth whatsoever despite the fact that it's objectively the best music format ever. Everyone dumped it for MP3 and now wax...which is hilarious to me because people did the exact opposite of that in the 80s and 90s.

There are about 100 CD singles I didn't get in the 90s because US stores wanted $13 for a £3 CD and I could only afford so many when being fleeced like that. Now they are all $1. It can only go up.

During the PS2 era this was certainly the case, and it's a serious issue with the web stores for iOS and Nintendo. With physical releases now though I'd say it's pretty easy to keep track since almost everything sucks ass.

Plus, so many albums have been re-released with bonus tracks (from singles/EPs...demos....love shows)... I am thinking about buying these re-releases if they are cheap enough...even if I own the original release.

Yeah, some really great 2CD reissues of things have turned up in recent years. That's probably the stuff that will be much harder to find in the future compared to the early recordings though since sales have been so bad for CD recently. Shit from 1996 got stamped in ridiculous quantities though.

Regarding Audio CDs, you guys are so right. For a decade now, I'm trying to gather 2nd hand CDs of music I like, and even some new releases get cheap within months.

If an album gets re-released in re-mastered form, I usually try to get the original vintage release instead. Blame it on the fear of loudness war.

Also, I sometimes treat me to some used vinyl records, but that's only for fun. They need to be so dirt cheap that I don't care if one of the purchases begins to skip on my record player setup.

Edit: Regarding the Saturn, mhm... On the one hand, this is a console I'd like to get my hands on, because the hardware appearance looks pretty nice, and there are some exclusive titles I'd like to play. On the other hand, I already own some multiplatform titles like Konami's shooters for the PS1, so there's no real need for me to get into Saturn gaming.

I got Radiant Silvergun for Xbox 360. Honestly, I suck hard at this game and lost interest soon, so it is good that I paid just a few bucks for it.
