Your "run select" stories?
« on: August 10, 2025, 11:21:54 PM »
I've always found the reset function via gamepad to be pretty neat, but sometimes it can be to one's detriment!

My best example is during the tail end of Ninja Spirit, when one has to dodge all those damned ninjas while falling into a deep pit.  I would pause, choose my route, undo pause, etc., when I accidentally hit run and select and had to start over!   #-o

A reset command is years ahead of its time.  I've probably gotten the most usage out of it doing caravan modes on shooters while going for high score.  I thiiink PS1 was the next console to have a reset command, though perhaps it wasn't as universal?  All 4 shoulder buttons, select and start.  I know Dreamcast had a universal one with all 4 face buttons and start.  But PC Engine was the console trendsetter here, certainly.
Current want list:  TG16 Bomberman 93, SGX 1941

Loved the games with a run+select delay to avoid mistakes in the heat of the moment. Especially games where you need to use those buttons to navigate menus.
