I'm the one who voted for PC Engine Hucards only.  Its not that i dont like the CD/SCD/ACD games, because I love them. I just dont like CD/DVD based media for games. You can ruin a CD easily. Hucards and cartridges in general tend to take either a ton of abuse, or about a billion plays before they break. Of course your supposed to take care of your games, but accidents happen. It sucks when you ruin something thats not easily replaced.

I voted SuperGrafx. It was definitely a machine that needed to be pushed. Their best effort, I think...the PC-FX is just too much of a hodgepodge system to take seriously.

Best media format is the PCE-CD and it's five iterations v1.0,v2.0,v2.1,v3.0, Arcade X.

I <3 the Japanese style games of PC-FX, and the fact that it plays CD-R makes it the BEST CONSOLE EVER.

Hpmebrew will hopefully give us more SHMUPS.

Lots of old CD systems play CDRs; Sega CD, 3DO, hell even Turbo CDs (not duos) have no problem with CDRs.

That's a subject of debate  . Some people's Duos, like mine, can play CD-Rs really well for the most part, while my PCE CD has a much harder time loading them and sometimes can't even boot them. But yeah GUTS is right, old CD systems didn't have all that gay piracy protection crap and can run CD-Rs just fine for the most part. Though with the Saturn and Playstation not being able to play backups without the necessary modding, I could see how someone would think the PC-FX might have problems too.

Just to piss you off, my friend . Actually that's a good question, as I only voted for it as a joke. I think most people are voting for it because they think it counts for both PCE and SGX games instead of just the SGX games themself.

Yup, at least one exists.  Magazines from back in the day show what looked to be a working prototype.  Actually, one was up on yahoo auctions Japan a long time ago... probably back around '99 - 2000.  It was before yahoo started charging people to buy/sell.  The only reason I remember this is because I won a somewhat expensive item on the same day that somebody posted a Power Console auction.  I didn't have anywhere near the $$$ to pay for both auctions.  Oh well.  I doubt I would've won the auction anyway.

Its been my experience that Duo's start having trouble playing cdr's once the laser begins to wear out/die.

Maybe the PC-FX seems better at playing cdr's since most units haven't received nearly as much play time as the average Duo.

As for the SuperGrafx category, it should get a ***** disclaimer that says "by voting for this, you're excluding all PCE HuCards" since voting for the CD format does. Otherwise, whats the point of having both PCE Hu's and SGX as candidates?

No, the poll says a lot more than that. If you were to include all the inherent qualities of a PCE CD playing console(without disclaimers), then it would also play all PCE HuCards.

They don't all suck, but they still don't even compare to the entire PCE CD library.
