The Cd-I wasn't that bad, there is a few neat games for it,plus the V-CD function wasn't bad for the time. I still want to get one some day for Burn Cycle.
If the CDi isn't "that bad" then that must mean that there isn't such a thing as a bad system because in my book its probably the worst system ever. I makes the PCFX look good, and the 3DO look really good.
The problem with this view is that you are misunderstanding the whole purpose the Cd-I was released for. It was designed for and meant to run multimedia applications, music cds, photo cds, and v-cd movies. Being able to even run normal games was not considered needed until around late 94 when sales were just going too slow and Philips started to panic more. The problem was the market didn't want a multimedia machine, and the damage was done for too long a time as from 91-94 this is the image of the machine Philips tried to maintain.
I don't consider the thing to be a game system,it wasn't intended to be one. Because of this its silly to compare it to any game system. If anything you should just consider it to be a all in one 386/486 that doesn't need Dos,ect to run the media.
