It came with a nice bottle of wine and a free baguette.

As of today I am the not so proud owner of not one, not two, but whole of three broken CD-ROM2 units for a pretty rubbish price too I might add.

Needless to say my little SMJ venture went about as badly as could be imagined. All that is needed now to end this whole affair on the lowest most note is for that rather expensive library of games I got in conjunction to arrive and my discovering that some were indeed being sold loose without advertising the fact properly.

Oh well, live and learn. I'll stick to eBay until I forget this little lesson in a few years.

Shopping Mall Japan, you know, the auction deputy service. Buyer beware though, so far one 1000 yen purchase has cost me 70, and counting.

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

I had no idea, but I will stay away. I think Soop and other members are starting to offer similar services.

No kidding, I bought about 2200 yen worth of stuff on Yahoo Japan a couple of months ago through SMJ, and it wound up ballooning to over $80. Yeouch. They also understate the exchange rate by about 5 yen for BS reasons so I haven't been there since.

it makes me laugh because people are like I REMEMBER PLAYIN THAT BACK IN THE DAY, MAN THAT WAS FUN.

and then I go "yeah I remember playing that 2 days ago because I still have my SNES, retard"

What inflated the price the most on that item was the seller apparantly charging me 4000 yen for shipping on that 1000 yen item. On a normal auction site you could try to talk it down or cancel the purchase. But here you first find out how it all went down after all is said and done, when SMJ sends you the bill.

Only way SMJ works is if you buy something really rare and expensive that sells with pretty meaty premiums on ebay. Like, say, a PC Engine LT. Then the fees will pale next to the end price.

For things belo 10000 yen it does not pay.
