Again, if you are playing RPGs solely for the story, why are you playing them at all? Books and movies have RPGs beat on story every time, for content, presentation, everything. If the game doesn't matter, why bother with it at all?

I agree that someone who is interested should take a shot at learning some Japanese and giving a J game a shot. It might be fun. But if they don't like the experience, that's fine, too. We shouldn't begrudge translation efforts, either. Different strokes for different folks. There's room for all of us.

You must not have ever played any of the Ultima games.  Few books and movies really beat Ultima V as far as story goes.

I also don't see any books or movies with Cadette Babette, Adol, or Latok in them.

As far as "story" goes, this also includes the atmosphere of the world the game takes place in which includes the towns, NPCs, and general flavor of everything.

I'd also like to say that LOX has better presentation than most films.

I dunno, most books I read, I find the stories to be pretty lame.   Neuromancer/Count Zero/Mona Lisa Overdrive are great.  I like Lovecraft's stuff, and a hefty chunk of Forgotten Realms stuff...

but alot of books, even ones regarded as classics, I find to be extremely frigging dumb.

The Great Gatsby for example.  F. Scott Fitzgerald is a tool.

Plus, I can't explore a book.

Adding PCE console specific layer on top of that, makes for an interesting challenge (no, not a reference to Ys II).

You mean I can't stop around enforcing my opinions of the world on others? What if I use a cattle prod? Does it work then?

Whats funny is translating the game yourself as you play has more value than derping through it blindly, lol.

You lrn2moonrune, and get secret powers.

Something I think would be awesome is a project to translate the games that were announced for US release toward the end of the Duo's life, but canned when the console was discontinued. I'm talking about the games in this thread:
http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=10321.0

Seeing Far East of Eden 2, Legend of Heroes 2, Macross 2036, or Cosmic Fantasy 3 finally get a ceremonial "release" after all this time would make the Turbo fanboy in me poop.
Games I Need: Bonk 3 (HuCard), Legend of Hero Tonma, Magical Chase, Soldier Blade, Super Air Zonk.

Got one to sell? PM me!

If a proactive and capable hacker came forward and showed some progress on it, I'd get to work on the FEOE2 script more seriously. Esperknight has the skill, but I'm worried he may not have the time. At the current rate, I just hope we can finish LoX2 before the end of next year.

PM me if you're interested. For that matter, if you want to hack another game, I'd be willing to look at the translation side. Just let me know.
