So Eternal City is AWESOME.  I mean sure, the backgrounds are repetitive, the enemies...well, let's just say the game resembles an early Genesis game.  But it's somehow...very addicting.  As some have said, it bears some marks that are quite reminiscent of Metroid (ESPECIALLY the first game) and I can totally see that, and it's seriously the best thing ever.  I just got the "Back-Booster" and I'm highly enjoying that.  I really wish the game had a translation patch, as a decent half-story would make up for the graphical shortcomings.

Anyway, I strongly recommend this game, if you can find it for a good price.  It may be somewhat bland, but it's also pretty unique among PCE games.

With a weekend to relax and time to play games, starting on Friday night, I fired up "Friday the 13th for NES" which I finished Saturday morning. It took me a few tries through the game to actually beat it.

From there I fired up Banjo Tooie and Conkers Bad Fur Day for N64 which I played a bit of Saturday and Sunday.

I finally played all the way through Cadash on the TG-16 yesterday, and it's so interesting seeing the differences between the Turbo version and the Genesis/MD one.  I like the atmosphere of the MD version better, but the brighter colors of the turbo version are also appealing. The music is a mixed bag in both.  It's very hard to discern which one's better, but I think the TG-16 version wins simply for having all 4 characters from the arcade playable

It has been over two decades since I played through Shining in the Darkness.  The past couple days that is all I have been playing.  I love it!  I think it's time to go through the whole Shining Series up to the Saturn stuff.  PS2 shining series makes me cry.

Played some more Cadash today, as the Priestess.  That was fun, until I got to the forest level & got my ass handed to me by the giant worm.

Also played a little Silent Debuggers.  I'm figuring it out little by little, but damn things get intense when the aliens start invading the core blocks

Been on a bit of an MVS kick lately. Mostly continuing to duke it out in Crossed Swords. Next month I will probably finally pick up Rondo, so the other stuff will definitely get put away for some time.

I really like the character designs in the Shantae games but I have yet to actually try one.  I should load up the GB one one my flash cart and try it someday.

Shubibinman 2 (Shockman).

How can anyone say this is a bad game?  Sure, it gets pretty cheap at times, but hey...there's a cheat for that.  So far, it's one of the best action platformers I've played on the system.  And DAT SOUNDTRACK.  I wish you didn't have to beat the game to get to the sound test, cuz damn.  It seems just a little on the fast side, though...I'm willing to bet a lot of the songs would sound better if slowed down to, say, PAL speed.  The instrumentation is great, though.  It really shows the more FM side of the PCE's sound spectrum.  Now I'm kinda curious to play the other two games, but they seem more hack & slash in style than run & gun.

Also, Chase HQ.

This was reasonably fun.  I can't decide if I like the pseudo-3D effect better in this, or Outrun, but I do believe the latter is at least less choppy with the scaling.

It plays okay, though.  My only regret (and this applies to both of these games) is that I got the PCE versions & didn't hold out for a deal on the Turbo versions, as Chase HQ is really missing something without the "Gotcha, Nancy!" and such.  Then again, I'm not really willing to pay the ridiculous prices the Merican versions seem to go for.  It's a dark day for turbob shopping indeed.
