I don't play many rpgs, in fact I only ever finished Chrono Trigger. This weekend I decided to give EarthBound a go (with the "faithful" patch, so no "censorship"). I found it engaging enough to want to finish it. At the same time I think it's overrated.

The same problem with any game that has a lot of hype surrounding it. I loved Rondo of Blood but thought it was over-hyped as well. Certain games end up on such high pedestals that they can't possibly meet our expectations.

The game is fun playing alone, and even better in Co-op mode.

I think you would have been more impressed with it at release.  We all were, my friends and I at least.  Now that several generations worth of technical and artistic achievements have passed since, it's easy to forget why some games held top honors previously.  The level design, animation, music, branching paths, bosses... everything just came together.  It's well deserving of the pedestal it's on, and I think even now it stands the test of time.

Replaying Dragon Slayer legend of heroes after my file got deleted from lack of understanding how ten no koe works.

Also while on the go Sim City Buildit and another game I just got into and that is Star Trek Timelines which you should try if you don't mind skipping all those paywall features...

My nephew visited this weekend, we had a blast playing Double Dragon, TMNT 2 and 3, Snoopy's Grand Adventure and Smash Bros for Wii U.

Patch you say?  No censorship you say.

Hmm intriguing. Maybe I can us this patch with my Mother 2 copy and play it on a Retron 5 patched for English users.

Now you mention it, someone at the starmen.net forums made a patch for your situation, super famicom mother 2 cartridge on the retron 5. Or you can always make your own off course.

So many patches exist for this fantastic epic, it's difficult to decide. The one I picked tries to be as faithful as possible to Mother 2, it has the original title screen, Threed is called Threek, Pokey is Porky, the cultists have  the HH logo, the hospitals have red crosses etc, etc

I'm playing Fallout 4 a lot. There multiple endings and I'm finding new areas to explore.

I watched Johnny Millennium's Fallout 4 opening playthrough a couple of days ago actually when I got my new smart TV set up and was breaking it in, learning to use its internal Youtube player.

Seems like an interesting game. You're getting the benefit of an extended movie with its post-apocalyptic story but yet are apart of it and determine how it unfolds to a certain extent. Why I always like RPG games, worth a lot more than a 2 hour movie... I personally like a good linear story, a basic beginning, middle and end scenario and that's what I prefer in a videogame also.

Not ashamed to say I have been playing AC iv: black flag and AC rogue lately. I haven't played any assassins creed games before but I love the sailing. I kinda knew what to expect for the land stuff since I've already played far cry 4 and watch dogs.

Though rogue doesn't have a Caribbean setting, I prefer it over black flag, with the exception of less epic forts and the ost. The islands are much more interesting to explore and I love fighting gangs. The story doesn't have a ton of tailing missions either. There's even a monopoly aspect where you invest in building renovations and later collect dividends in a bank.

It's gonna be hard to play the other AC games without the sailing, island exploring, fleet commanding, and naval combat.

Just beat Dragon Slayer on the 2nd playthrough in a month after losing my save file a while back due to the way ten no koe operates.. and after finally finishing it I started on this..

I just finished Brandish: The Dark Revenant for the PSP and it was quite a fun little romp.  I have started on the EX Mode (playing on Dela) but it is much more difficult, wow.  May finish it up or I might take a break and play something else first.

Playing Styx: Master of Shadows on the Xbox One. It's one of the monthly Gold freebies. Pleasantly surprised at how fun it is. It's like a tolkienesque Splinter Cell.
