On Series X I've been playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Get it if you haven't!

I'm fairly deep into Earthbound (SNES) as of today. Gonna hopefully wrap it up in the first week or so of May. :D

been playing a number of cheap indie games on steam. last week i beat both oniken and odallus, which are by the same developer. had a really good time with both.

oniken is an 8bit style action game like shatterhand, with a post-game bonus level based on contra. difficulty ramps up gradually and is brutal but fair.

odallus is an 8bit metroidvania based on castlevania (some touches of rondo here and there) and demon's crest/GNG. less challenging than oniken but like a lot of indie games, the final boss has a difficulty spike so getting the armor upgrade is necessary to use some cool moves.

currently playing Blasphemous (60% done? there's a NG+ with extra bosses but probably won't get around to it) and i cannot recommend it enough. soulslike metroidvania inspired by spanish catholicism (you can even play in spanish dub). the whole game is oozing with atmosphere and disturbing yet strikingly beautiful pixel art visuals. crunchy combat as well. no real cons except the soundtrack is mostly ambient and fast travel is relatively limited.

I see Blasphemous pop up on sale on consoles regularly. Maybe I'll try it out thanks to your recommendation.

been finishing up Doom the Dark Ages! family member got it on steam so i'm playing via family share
as someone who loved doom 2016 and merely liked Eternal but not enough to play the Eternal DLC, i am preferring the combat loop of Dark ages over Eternal. less restrictive in its approach, more open level design. the loss of the double jump is unfortunate but i prefer the shield combat. works like a turok diskus but you can also parry certain projectiles, and it is immensely satisfying
have not messed around with higher difficulties or the modifiers/sliders, as i don't play shooters often
the Dark Ages DLC upgrade is $35 so it is unlikely i will play that when it comes out, my personal life will be too busy

i have the switch 2 pre-order ready to go, excited to play some mario kart and catch up on a few switch 1 games i didn't get around to (metroid dread, maybe kirby forgotten lands if i have time)
